I don't believe it's a coincidence that his musical expression was constantly not just negative, but negative without a vision of overcoming, and his ultimately self inflicted, violent death.

What in the hell are you talking about, people do music like that all the time and don't kill themselves.

Nevertheless, that’s exactly what happened in this case and it’s still significant. It’s also worth noting that, of all the Debbie Downers out there, Cobain was about the downest, which is why I hold him in such low regard. It’s like that’s all he had to offer.

oh you didn't know that everyone who is ever hopeless or depressed or anguished or sad or angry kills themselves violently? i've done a very scientific study on it with a sample of one person, and he probably killed himself. but some people think he was murdered, and there are some compelling reasons for believing that anyway but that's besides the point cause i gots the science mind man.[/quote]

I’m really not much of a conspiracy theorist. I generally save my tin foil for the oven rather than hat making.

using an artist's suicide as part of a critical argument against the singer's music is one of the more disgusting things I've seen here. the suggestion here that the music has such an active role in this suicide is about as tasteful, empathetic, and intelligent as saying that chester bennington would still be here today if he had only sang "I'm one step closer to the edge, and I'm about to get in touch with a mental healthcare professional". Bennington didn't even do that part, that was Mike Shinoda.

Also, on the repetition, I do believe lots of the classical phrases were simply not worth repeating. I think Brahms for example would have a difficult time writing for a rock band...

Okay,
I have oft criticized Nirvana's music completely without mentioning the suicide. The criticism stands completely independent of Curt losing his head.

That might be true. Brahms was a master of large forms, but didn't seem to be able to say much in under four minutes. Of course, there were the Hungarian Dances.
