I have to say I'm also on the anti-1975 bandwagon. They're going to be one of those bands where the critical adoration ages especially poorly.

I've been trying to think of a way to compare The 1975 to My Chemical Romance as the opposite of this but I'm not sure the parallel works. MCR was written off when they were big as overdramatic and playing off of a trend, but I think a lot of people are realizing their stuff is pretty good and has aged decently (I'm not a fan of The Black Parade but I don't think it's bad). I see The 1975 as a similar band that is theatrical, is playing off current trends, and is a big hit with people under 20. I think when we look back we'll look at them as encapsulating a very specific point in time but I don't think their music will sound dated.

Very well put, hopefully, people do come to more widely respect The 1975 even if they're not fans, cause I understand not liking the music, but I can't stand it when people attack this band just because it's not what they like, they're artists who deserve respect for sure

I swear I mentioned a Nu Metal revival somewhere before, and this is getting dangerously close.

Release anything which you think may be controversial among other members, raise an eyebrow, incite someone into a rage or goes against the majority in anyway.

I have a 1000-CD collection, very eclectic covering many styles of rock, indie and electronica. Out of obligation, I have one Beatles album (Abbey Road), and honestly don't get what all the fuss is about. It's cheesy fluff-pop, 60's style, with medley-mastermixing that reminded me of Jive Bunny.

It's ok, not bad. But compared with what Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, The Doors, and branching out the burgeoning krautrock & jazz-fusion scenes etc were doing at the same time Abbey Road just sounds very thin and forgettable.

And yet George Martin is a household name as some kind of legendary producer, not to mention The Beatles' status as 'greatest-ever band' with Abbey Road their apparently finest work...
