Phew, feels so much better to get that out in the open.

Anything and everything with songs by Steinman is gonna' be an unrecognized classic.

Yeah, absolutely. Steinman is all over this album. His backing vocals are hysterical but amazing on the title track.

I really like the 3 Bat out of Hell albums as well, but I'm struggling to find another great album that Steinman contributed to. I tried the Pandora's Box album. It seems totally Steinman's baby, but i couldn't get into it. Seems like all the songs turned up on Meat albums though anyway.

Check out the two Steinman cuts on the Streets of Fire soundtrack. I also like the two Steinman cuts on the Sisters of Mercy album Vision Thing.

Some time ago. I downloaded 4 great Steinman song off the net sung by Karine Hannah that never appeared on any album (except as sung by others). I've never been able to find them again but fortunately I've still got the MP3s.

I've got his solo album, Bad for Good, which has some great songs, but unfortunately he has a poor singing voice... certainly not up to the task of bringing his grandiose, over the top lyrics to life.

Thanks for those recs! I'll look into all of those. Not heard of Karine Hannah before but it looks like she rerecorded one of those Steinman songs and released it last year. So maybe more will be on their way.

Do you have a view on the Panforas Box album?( I think I remember seeing you talk about it with After Hours) Ive only heard it once but wasn't that keen on the arrangements/vocalists. Think I may check it out again though.[/quote]

I love Pandoras Box. It has some filler, some rather pointless spoken word, and some novelty cuts that are good for one listen only. But the great classic Steinman cuts make the whole thing worthwhile (although I agree the vocal quality is rather variable):
It Just Won't Quit
Good Girls Go to Heaven (But the bad girls go Everywhere)
Original Sin
The Future Ain't What It Used to Be
It's.All Coming Back to Me Now (better than the hit version from Celine Dion)
Safe Sex

I think more controversial would be to say Pixies aren't half as good as Nirvana... But they're both good so why bother.

Good call Smile I listened again and it's growing on me -though it's not really coming into focus as a concept album yet. The Future Ain't what it used to be is probably my favourite Steinman song. And I'm thinking the version of Good girls go to heaven on this album is pretty fantastic.

The Beau Brummels' Triangle was a way better Summer of Love album than Surrealistic Pillow

These are surprisingly GREAT! albums ...

Re-Ac-Tor by Neil Young And Crazy Horse

Trans by Neil Young

Old Ways by Neil Young

Landing On Water by Neil Young

Slow Train Coming by Bob Dylan

Saved by Bob Dylan

Shot Of Love by Bob Dylan

... that got critically slammed solely because the artist followed a creative direction that the critics didn't agree with. All worth a revisit if you throw away expectations of what the artist should sound like.

These thoughts are sort of all over the place but It's what I stand by
Wot's oh the deal is Pink floyd's best song
Make Believe is a fantastic Weezer Album, heck I love 'em all except for pacific daydream and Raditude
My Chemical Romance was more influential than Green day
Pink Floyd's The wall is an overblown mess of an album
Station to Station is Bowie's best album by far, hiss closest is Blackstar
Good Kid M.a.a.d City is better than TPAB
Nirvana's Insecticide needs to be as highly praised and talked about as Nevermind and In utero
Childish gambino's "stupid" voice and lyrics is why he's so fantastic
Def Leppard's High n' dry is the most over hated album of the 80's and is actually amazing(at least in my community, I don't really know other people's thoughts)
greatest hits albums are the biggest slap in the face to artists ever, if you like their music buy the damn albums

These aren't particularly controversial imo. Agree on The Wall and GKMC, and Station To Station is very close to being my favorite. I don't agree with the last statement, but it's a pretty widely-held view.
