I have a hard time getting through the first four tracks. They're not good. |
this is the bizarre thing about radiohead. what one person thinks are the highlights, another finds middling. i happen to put all i need, reckoner and jigsaw in the bottom half of the album with my highlights being nude and weird fishes. weird band. but then, i think hail to the thief and amnesiac are their best albums, so maybe we're listening to two different bands. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

Amnesiac is awesome. Honestly, they could have released it with Kid A as a double album and I think I would rate the combination higher than I do each part. _________________ Some New Ordeal (Spotify/iTunes/Deezer)

Lastly, it's a crime that Joanna Newsom only has a single top-250 album. She should have at least 2, and 4 top-500 ones. |
What?! I hadn't checked the rankings. No controversy there - those need to be higher. _________________ Top 40 Greatest Music Albums by indieshins

Absolutely agreed, they are a unique band in that area. I happen to love all of the mentioned songs since In Rainbows is one of my favourite albums, however the clear highlight on the album for me is Videotape. _________________ All time

1) Captures the hearts AND minds of millions of people - young and old, brilliant and simple, rich and poor
2) Lauded by music historians
3) Influenced generations of musicians
4) Meaningful ingenuity rarely if ever matched
5) Their art truly mirrors humanity in a cathartic, yet realistic way
6) They make it sound simple when it's not
7) They truthfully and emotionally cut through bullshit (no 13th's required)
8 ) But they know how to resolve a tritone and how dare they use a major third... clearly the worst musicians ever. Don't they know that's no longer cool. This is only reserved for Mozart. Amateurs. They really should be recording vomit sounds to be truly amazing.
9) 8.2 artists did what they did first, they just didn't do it very well.
10) THE ONLY reason they are relevant is because they sold out.
11) That and they made more than one impressive album.
12) They actually have some rhythm
- Love top ranked musicians
I realize it's more complicated than this, but sometimes I feel top ranked musicians are overlooked and sarcasm is sometimes fun.

2) Put on pedestal by pop culture """historians"""
3) Influenced 2-3 generations of Brits and Americans
4) struggling to find new notes on a blues scale, or new black or traditional musics to appropriate
5) Possibly made by humans, probably marketing algorithms
6) It's simple!
7) They reflect their true selves by aping the same structures aped by others for 2-3 generations
8 ) Ignorant of any and all musical progress made in last century
9) Black musicians did it first, they were just black
10) Almost got found out trying to incorporate house and hip hop
11) They just keep on shitting out them blues chords
12) Have you seen Ringo try to clap out a rhythm?

Awesome rebuttal!
What's beautiful is I agree with both lists pending certain variables.
