Me too. If it hadn't slipped my mind somehow, The Guess Who would have been in my top 10

BOARDS OF CANADA!!!
OF MONTREAL!!!
oh wait...
ok. the best of the best of the best:
grimes. i loved visions. i hated art angels. then one day, like a strike of lightning, it clicked, and art angels is one of my all-time favorites. mind-blowing stuff. it looks like candy at a glance, but this is all fruits and vegetables.
venetian snares. if VS did it, you can almost assume it's fantastic. the guy is consistently putting out great music.
the best of the rest:
crystal castles. they're one of the most influential bands people never talk about. chillwave and witch house would look a whole lot different without them, i think.
leonard cohen one of my favorite poets, but i wouldn't put him in the top tier for his music. still, hallelujah. that song alone makes for a hell of a career. i've got a huge soft spot for everybody knows as well.
owen pallett (fka final fantasy). even if you haven't listened to owen's solo work, you've probably heard his arcade fire contributions. he used to talk about making movie soundtracks, and i hope he gets back in that mindset. heartland was glorious, and worthy of best of the best, but in conflict was rubbish... and i'm not sure what inspired him to make it.
worthy of mention:
arcade fire, destroyer, doubting thomas, front line assembly, godspeed you! black emperor, hayden who, noise unit, skinny puppy, tim hecker.
let's move on from joni mitchell and neil young _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

All those good for nuthin' punks up north causing a ruckus with their arcade fires and dead mice, not to mention their nomeansno n' badbadnotgoods and whatchamacallit timber timbres.
Also, Carly Rae Jepsen.
And not trying to be funny, but there's a fairly popular artist called Hayden, and I want to punch him.
