This thread made me listen to Jamiroquai again.
These two albums are full of cowbell.. But there's woodblocks & agogo bells too (= like a duo of mini cowbells Wink )

Emergency On Planet Earth by Jamiroquai
Check Hooked up for a classic 4 to the floor cb example

The Return Of The Space Cowboy by Jamiroquai
Check Stillness In Time, after about a minute.. nice combo of agogo, cowbell, woodblock & more..

Emergency on Planet Earth is a classic. Almost 25 years and still holds up to this day.
I still need to listen to their second record but wasn't crazy about it when I wanted to listen to it.

I'm going to have to declare the winner to be:

GRAND FUNK RAILROAD. WE'RE AN AMERICAN BAND

Not only is cowbell the very first sound that you hear on the record, but it's used in a completely unique way. Its used as a kind of punctuation. The guitars stop, and the cowbell itself keeps the song going. It's just the most awesome use of cowbell ever. Listen to it and tell me I'm wrong.

You're not wrong.

But this break at the end of U-mass also rocks!

(I might be biased, we covered this song in high school during my first gig as a drummer, so it was also my first drum 'solo' Smile )

Hey you're right. Its used in a kind of a similar way as We're an American band. Very cool.

I. DID bring up that song. In the very first post. It's Don't Fear the Reaper. But I forgot if the band in that skit had their own name or if they just called them Blue Oyster Cult. But the record they're playing is Don't Fear the Reaper.

Woops...there is no coming back from that one for me.
