Yikes, seems like the whole world underestimated Pelicans. I don't think Warriors will drop a game here though. Maybe one ...

So yeah...
West:
Warriors in 5, Rockets in 5 (I love that Jazz came this far and I love Mitchell, but it's gonna be tough without Rubio).
Warriors in 6 (edit: i mean over Rockets in WCF). That much remains the same from my old prediction.

East:
Ugh... If Cavs win today, I'm still going with them over Raptors. In 6. But I do also think Cavs may not make it to the Finals this years. I don't know if it's just me underestimating the Pacers though.

And I still predict Sixers in 6 - I expected bad games in the series vs Heat, but even in those two (2 and 4), they seemed like they were able to put together a run at any point in the game. So many shooters, Embiid can be awesome on both ends of the floor, and Simmons doesn't look like a rookie at all. Too many injuries for Boston.

Then Warriors crush Sixers in the finals.

Yeah. The finals r going to be incredibly anticlimactic this year. Likely a sweep by Houston or Warriors. That's really the finals this year.

Hoping the Celtics can keep the magic going! Go Celtics!!!

Damn it Celtics (and Bucks)... almost got all 8 right (not in terms of games it took but outcome). Shucks. I stick to all my second round predictions including Sixers winning over the Celtics.

My Eastern Conference Round 2 predictions:

Toronto over Cleveland in 7 - This is the year the Raptors get passed Lebron.

Philadelphia over Boston in 6

So which BEAer made the most accurate first round predictions? Bonus points for getting the team and the exact number of games correct.

What actually happened - Boston in 7. Mercury and junodog4 thought the Bucks could beat the Celtics minus Irving. Didn't work out. Bonus point for Streetspirit.

What actually happened, Pelicans in a 4 game sweep. Nobody saw this coming. Mercury is the only BEAer to predict this winner, but even he figured the Blazers would take it to 7. No bonus points.

19loveless91, 6-2, +2 bonus points

What actually happened, Cavs in a 4-game sweep. I'm an idiot for believing in Toronto. So are Merc and junodog. We're all idiots. 19loveless91, mdbaxter, and AfterHours knew better, but none get a bonus point for predicting the sweep.

What actually happened, Celtics in 5. I'm a little disappointed in my 76ers, but they far exceeded preseason expectations already. They'll continue to grow and improve. Congrats to mdbaxter for being the only one to predict this winner (but no bonus point).

What actually happened, Warriors over the Pelicans in 5. Everyone got this right except junodog4, who didn't change his prediction after the Thunder lost in the first round (even if OKC had won, they would've played HOU in Round 2, not GS). Bonus points for StreetSpirit, 19loveless91, Mercury, and AfterHours (since Steph played in the series).

Here is how our predictions look now:

mdbaxter, 10-2, +2 bonus points
StreetSpirit, 9-3, +5 bonus points
19loveless91, 9-3, +4 bonus points
Mercury, 9-3, +3 bonus points
Afterhours, 9-3, +2 bonus points
junodog4, 6-6, +2 bonus points

By getting all four 2nd round winners correct, mdbaxter has been the best through two rounds.

My Conference Finals predictions:

Rockets over the Warriors in 7
Cavs over the Celtics in 6

Anyone want to change their Conference Finals predictions? You have until Sunday afternoon.

Cavs over Celtics in 6.
Warriors over Rockets in 6

Sigh... another cavs warriors match... even I am getting a bit bored of it.

Lol so it's Cavs vs Celtics and Warriors vs Rockets like literally everyone seemed to have predicted at the beginning of the season? But I really didn't see this coming at the beginning of the playoffs.

I keep my predicton of Warriors over Rockets in 6.

But I will say.. Celtics in 7. May not be the wisest decision, but fuck it.

Still, Warriors sweep either East team in the Finals.

On paper, the 2018 Warriors may be the 2nd most talented team ever (not necessarily "best") behind last years version. Assuming they overcome Houston tonight, they should sweep the Cavs (on paper).

But I'm rooting for the Cavs because of how much more compelling it would be. It would be miraculous to see Lebron and company actually overcome such a (virtually unbeatable) opponent. The only way the Warriors can lose a series (outside of playing the 96 Bulls, who would beat them imo due to their supreme intelligence and discipline -- probably the smartest, most perfectly organized and executing team ever + maybe the best defensive team ever -- combined with their comparable talent ... mid 80s Lakers/Celtics and 00s Lakers would also have a good chance) ... is if they play un-disciplined basketball + the opponent plays out of their mind (especially defensively) and slows the game down to give them less possessions and momentum. Houston has done this in the games they've won. It seems highly improbable that Lebron and the Cavs have the personnel to pull off a similar feat, but it would be incredible to see it happen if they did.

Agreed. Hoping for an upset just cuz that would be crazy. Not cuz I have a particular dog in this fight.

Cavs-Warriors IV... seemed inevitable, but I didn’t foresee the journey that would get us here.
