After the subdued brilliance of Tea for the Tillerman, it was going to be just plain impossible for Cat Stevens to put out a worthy encore, but he comes pretty close with Teaser and the Firecat. In addition to stacking up a few of his most beloved ballads, he also has some catchy but not cheezy pop oriented tunes and even songs with a little edge. A great effort all around.
My favourite album by Cat Stevens even though the sublime Morning Has Broken reminds me of filing in to school assemblies with our frosty Head of Year Miss Horn glaring at us angrily, daring us to misbehave. So that track reminds me of having religion rammed down my throat at High school. But I still love that track and the whole album. I am going to add it to my Top 100. Been meaning to do so for some time.
