Both my 00s and 10s charts are in serious need of updates so haven't bothered to look at them in detail, but suffice it to say that if it's an album I adore I'll always try to get a physical copy of it if I can, and more often than not on vinyl.

More recent users (especially any vinyl-heads) might want to have a look at this thread which is on a similar subject.

Well done!

I need to update all of my decade charts and the overall chart. I've been so focussed on the yearly ones for ages. It would be a good way to rationalise what I really would like to keep on vinyl.

I think for me, there's probably about 5 albums a year that I get really attached to, that I love all the way through, and SHOULD have on vinyl for that reason. That would be 50 a decade, or maybe around 300 all up. It would be a satisfying thing to have a smaller vinyl collection, but know that everything on that IKEA shelf is going to be all killer (for my purposes at least).

This is easy for me...

I own physical copies of 100% of the albums on all of my charts. I do not use the "Listened" function, as I do not count albums that I have heard over my lifetime but do not currently own a copy of. I do own physical copies of all of the albums listed in my collection.

Albums that I do not own physical copies of are not eligible for inclusion on my charts.

That's just me and the way I have chosen to do things.

Ha...no. I do keep what I buy, and I've been adding to my collection for many years now. And it helps that when I quit smoking, part of the deal that still stands is that I get to use a portion of the money I would have spent on cigarettes to buy music every paycheck. That deal with myself is on to this day. I've basically turned tobacco into albums. A trade that I believe I win every time.

Overall something like 99.5%

It would be 100% but I periodically cull things for charity collections and I'm a bit behind in updating my charts.

I only have one album through a download because that was the only way that I could get it. Everything else is on record, tape, and CD still.

God bless you always!!!

Almost all.

Something of a dinosaur here... pretty seriously wedded to physical media.

The only purely digital media I have are items I discovered late in life, have been out of print, and are only available digitally.

Not enough, despite owning more than 2,000 physical records on either CD (dominant with 1,700+), vinyl (very few and I don't buy any anymore because I don't own an amp) and cassette tapes. Workinonit as much as I can though.

Of course, limiting charts to 1 record per artist most of the time doesn't help. Those numbers below could easily be multiplied otherwise (except for the 50s and 10s).

Anyway.

Overall: 55/100 (CD: 46, Vinyl: 1, Cassette: 8 )

50s: 18/50 (all on CD)
60s: 32/100 (CD 26; Cassette 4; vinyl 2)
70s: 21/100 (CD 17; vinyl 1; cassette 3)
80s: 26/100 (CD 25; Cassette: 1)
90s: 57/100 (CD 50; Cassette 7)
00s: 31/100 (all on CD)
10s: 2/100, on CD

All of it. Very old fashioned in that I have to physically own it. Split 55 / 45 in favour of vinyl. Just passed 6,000 albums.

Exactly the same rules as I apply.
