I'd like to make a more interactive diary as a complement to my chart-building music diary. So I've listed a few genres that I'm interested in taking a deeper dive into. Whichever one finishes first in the poll will be the first one I tackle, and so on. I will post a rundown of albums I already like from the genre, and then listen to at least ten new albums and post thoughts here. Recommendations are greatly encouraged throughout the process, and anyone is welcome to join me in exploring and discussing the albums! Smile

I'm liking Twee pop and Sunshine pop. I'm gonna go with Twee pop. I like the idea of diaries about a particular sub-genre-could be a good way of discovering new albums collectively. I'd like to learn about Jangle Pop, but maybe that would fit in a Twee Pop diary. Anyway, hope this works out well. Could be good!

I voted for Girl Group, hoping that you meant the original girl groups from the 60s. And not bullshit like Destiny's Child or En Vogue or whatever crapola is coming out of Korea or wherever today.

Indeed I do mean 60s girl group music. For all of these, I'm using RYM's genre parameters.

However, I would disagree that Destiny's Child is bullshit.

Thanks! There is definitely a lot of overlap. If anyone is interested I have a list that combines the best of the two, plus indie pop.

Awesome!! I love 60s girl group and I like to think of myself as an expert on it. I'm not quite sure that I am, I just said that I like to THINK of myself that way. Heh heh. Confused Think

Step 2: New Albums (provisional list)

Where Did Our Love Go by The Supremes (1964)
Girls In The Garage, Vol. 1 by Various Artists (1964-1967)
Dance Party by Martha & The Vandellas (1965)
More Hits By The Supremes by The Supremes (1965)
