In your opinion, what was released this year that you think needs more attention?
Im going to go with..
Common As Light And Love Are Red Valley...n Kil Moon
This album is massive. Folk meets Hip Hop, in a strangely satisfying way. And 2 hours of it.
If this sounds at all intriguing please do yourself a favour and give it a spin.

Is this a fresh new thing for that artist? I remember trying to get into them before I just didn't for whatever reason. This anything different from the past?
Thanks for the heads up!
I think some albums I've found infectious yet not highly ranked this year for whatever reason have been:
Beck- for some when Beck did this really pop record it wasn't the Midnight Vultures style many would expect from a pop like album. Even if Seventh Heaven is pretty obnoxious, the rest of the album has an upbeat feel layered in nothing less than you'd expect from Beck.
Vulfpeck - this is like Marvin Gaye meets They Might Be Giants. It's kind of serious Soul/Funk, but terribly silly at times too. I mean Bootsy Collins is on it.
Temples - for me really catchy melodies. I know they are seen by some as a copycat band of Tame Impala, but I dig.

that Tera Melos is a fun one for sure. its great that they're directly referencing speedrunning video games with the name and music video for Warpless Run, they both have that precise execution thing going on.

Gotta get on this, I think I spotted it going through (Quietus?) and it peaked my interest. I'll probably spin it soon.
As for me, people should check these out (apologies for the long post):
Zimpel/Ziołek by Zimpel/Ziołek
Vampire Weekend meets Panda Bear in the most serious and beautiful way possible. Mix-in some Poles, and you got one of the years best releases. Incredible stuff, don't sleep on it.
Hand In Hand by Félicia Atkinson
You're walking through an art gallery, yes you are.
Ladilikan by Trio Da Kali And Kronos Quartet
I posted this in my 80 Days thread, but going to give it a shout out here. Incredible collaboration of mande and classical.
Sacred Horror In Design by Sote
Everywhere At The End Of Time - Stage 3... Caretaker
Stage 3 of Caretaker's latest experiment is not only its best instalment, but his best work since Empty Bliss.
Ahwar by Nadah El Shazly
This is going to be my Egypt entry for my 80 Days project, here's the blerb I have for it:
I’m unfamiliar of Nadah El Shazly, just decided to dive straight into her latest release. After I finished the album, I’m still unfamiliar with Nadah El Shazly. This isn’t a describable album… jazz? post-rock? IDM? avant-classical? Regardless, musically, it’s a marvel, and one of 2017’s best undiscovered gems. Haunting, beautiful, yet full of groove. Think Jenny Hval if she broke.
Nihiloxica by Nihiloxica
Innovative (and live!) dancefloor afrobeat. Not a terribly long record either, everyone should give it a shot.
Fool's Paradise by Cold Specks
One of the years best R&B albums.
What In The Natural World by Jake Xerxes Fussell
Def a gem within 2017's singer/songwriter releases. Masterclass stuff.
Arpo by Call Super
Brilliant textural downtempo. Slick, chill, deep, something you can walk into.
Nyoi Plunger by Toiret Status
Imagine getting hit by EVERYTHING, but it all bounces off of you and then comes back to hit you again.

Amen 3 by Mikko Joensuu
Has some hints of krautrock, but it's something very on it's own.
Long, swelling and flowing songs.
