Psyched your exploring 1991 with me! |
It's always more fun exploring a fantastic year with more people.
This mean ignoring 1996 a bit (see my other thread) which I thought was a terrible year with all that postgrunge.
And now even listening to 2018 (Shame and Tiny Little Houses).

And if you put your sound level at 1
But I suppose that's not the same.

Well if the two of you mention Smell The Magic, I suppose I should give L7 another chance. I'll put it in my wishlist.

And I see now that it's also 1991 so I'll do that immediately

lol. Not even close. It's ok. I'll get there, brother. Headed off to do some tai chi soon
Yeah, it's way more fun doing the years with a group. Thanks for joining in. I know we all have our own little projects so I appreciate it. I only chose 1991 because Rhyner chose it.
It's amazing how many awesome albums are from 1991. I have like twenty albums in my queue that I want to write up. We'll see. I'll probably stick with 1991 until the end of February and then hit 1992. Then 1990. & so on.

I think it is pretty easy to dismiss a year, it is harder to really dissect something in retrospect and realize that there really isn't a bad year if you know where to look and what you're looking for. I haven't prescribed to the idea of "weak years in music" in a very long time, but I understand I have a lot more opportunities to dissect things given my musical knowledge is the byproduct of the digital age.

Yeah but some years are difficult however: I started that thing to go through every album of the BEA top 2500 for every year and years like 1991 were just a pleasure and 1996 is hard to get through.
The thing I'm more and more discovering, and that's also true for 1991, is that the real gems are hidden below the top 2500.
Btw the first three tracks of Smell The Magic are not bad but I don't know yet if it's going to become a favorite.
