I think that 1971 is easily the best year of the decade, and I don't even like a lot of the albums typically considered to be best of the year. Of the top 10 on this site, I don't like Zed Zeppelin IV, Who's Next, Sticky Fingers, or Fragile all that much. For me, it's stuff like Blue, What's Going On, Tago Mago, Songs of Love and Hate, Histoire De Melody Nelson, and First Utterance that makes the year.

I appreciate all the comments so far, and Happy New Year, BEA. It's always a lot of fun to get your collective input on topics such as these.
So far, I've mentioned that in the event of a tie for any spot in the top 3 for these polls, the tiebreaker is selected by seeing which year has more points on this site. Right now, even though there are still a couple days to vote, 4 years are tied for 2nd place with 4 votes a piece.
What do you guys think in the case of a tiebreaker, let alone a 4 way tiebreaker for 2nd/3rd place? _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

Very interesting to see it laid out like that and definitely some strong output in each category. _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

I suppose that depends on the end goal? I think I read your original post, but I can't say for sure I know the end goal (my fault not yours ).
If it is a composite list of the best years, then I suppose you associate a score to the year and then in the end it all mathematically makes sense.
If it is just the top 3 of each decade, then you let Scaruffi decide... hehe.

The ones with the most votes in each poll move on and there will be a poll with the top 3 from each decade. Then probably the top 3 (or maybe 5) from that larger list will have one final poll. Because I think it will be interesting to not only see what everyone thinks of 1971 vs 1973 and 1977, but 1971 vs 1991 or 1986 or 2001. But also, simply to have more of a reason to dive into certain years. A music goal of mine this year is to listen to at least 365 albums that are new to me (while of course revisiting old favorites and records I've only spun once or twice). I've already received a number of recommendations on these threads, but maybe I'll just let Scaruffi decide after all _________________ Attention all planets of the solar federation: We have assumed control.

This is a fly on the ointment idea, and I'm not suggesting any change to what you're doing... but
I was thinking today, the results of your poll would have been quite different if the rounds were divided differently. You've gone for decades, but it would've made some sense musically (not chronologically) to divide the rounds like this:
1956-1966
1967-1976
1977-1986
1987-1996
1997-2006
2007-2017
Obviously, you'd have had different years competing against each other. 1967-1976 would've been very hard fought.
