And another highlight in this wonderful year in music:

And Nothing Hurt by Spiritualized
Nearly every single track starts in an underwhelmed but sensitive way and ends in an overwhelming outburst of different instruments which is all the surprising because puzzled together by one man; but what an album!

The Road Is Just A Surface by Anja Garbarek

if you're unfamiliar with anja, she's done collaborations with mark hollis (talk talk) and robert wyatt in the past, her dad is jazz saxophonist jan garbarek, and she's been accused of sounding a lot like stina nordenstam (unfairly though). none of that is relevant on this particular record, but after listening to it half a dozen times now, it's climbed it's way up to the top of my year chart.

musically, expect the weirder side of singer-songwriter with elements of trip hop, jazz and some avant garde stuff.

Thanks for the lookout, I'm really enjoying the listen right now. It's very peaceful.

Room 25 by Noname

At first glance this doesn't quite stack up to her excellent debut. But it's still a great record from an underappreciated artist. Don't sleep.

I'm gonna waste (no use wisely Wink ) my 1000th post on this site to promote three albums from older but very different acts which I can recommend with all my heart:

First for all the kiwi's amongst you (and of course others), the Chill have issued a great new album which brings you back to their old days: ringing guitars and at first view naive but utterly effective and intricate songs:

Snow Bound by The Chills

Second is Paul Weller who has issued an incredibly mellow but oh so fantastic new album with just highlight after highlight but with Wishing Well and White Horses as the top tracks.

True Meanings by Paul Weller

And last but not least a real oldie. Uriah Heep have released a new album which can easily be matched by their best albums of the seventies. It has again this fantastic combination of guitar, organ and expressive singing which are just battling to be the best in each and every song of this great new record:

Living The Dream by Uriah Heep

How to best spend your thousandth post to promote new albums to a community of album lovers...
