Yup. A different two for me - I love Soccer Mommy and Snail Mail and simply like Lucy Dacus. I think the key to Snail Mail is not to expect boundary-pushing music or varied songwriting, and just to appreciate it as the no-frills, well-done indie pop it is. There's a hype backlash going on - it has a 3.15 on RYM, which is brutal for such a critically-acclaimed album.

Ditto. Both of these are top 15 material for me in 2018. The Soccer Mommy, I gave it one listen but probably won't revisit it.

About the Snail Mail...I think it was trying to be cohesive, which IMO succeeded very well. Even though the subject matter is what you'd expect from someone her age, it's not written like someone her age.

And for Lucy Dacus, given how much I love Historian, I was very disappointed by the collab EP.

Funny story about Historian, perhaps: The opening lines of the album are awful: 'The first time I tasted somebody else's spit, I had a coughing fit'. I seriously almost stopped the album right there! Then that song gets really good, and by the end of the album I was thanking God that I kept playing.

Just completely surprised by the new album of a UK band that seems to be around for decades and has already released tons of album:

We're Your Friends, Man by The Bevis Frond

And I had never heard of them (in fact the band is dominated by one person: Nick Saloman) and I can't understand why because they have a magnificent guitar sound. On most of the tracks and especially on the last You're On Your Own the psychedelic guitars sound bigger than big with both influences from J Mascis, Neil Young, Hendrix and so on but it's also on the slower acoustic songs on which you can hear how fantastic and heartfelt this band sounds: one of the albums of the year!

The only thing you could argue against this album that it's maybe too long with twenty, sometimes long, tracks but I wasn't bored a minute which is proven by the fact that I'm already listening to their 2013 album White Numbers and I'm dying to discover their whole legacy.

Well I'm just listening to a 42 minutes long guitar solo: the last track on the 2013 White Numbers and I don't think I will be able to cope with more guitars: Brick wall

well I think I am because he's able to be so entertaining and diverse in his guitar play. I already added a few of his songs on my most favorite songs ever.
And New River Head is certainly also on my list.

Thanks. I was aiming for hopeful yet believable.

Honestly, I don't think I've heard 50% of this list, so I'll go through a few things before judging it, but it's safe to say it's a weird list from Pitchfork. Skimming through, biggest highlight is Lonnie Holley cracking the top 20.
