TMT still has the best writing in the game.

Lets see for some Year-End reccomendations what's a good house, guitar-based, dreamy pop and album from East Asia, and Skinny (I'm only asking Skinny for this one, losers) what's a good under-the-radar hip-hop album that's BAWPy but not TOOOOO BAWPy.

I feel like Kids See Ghosts is being excluded from year-end lists because of Kanye's bullshit.

He's an ass, but don't penalize an incredible album for it

House (DJ Healer made the best house album I've heard this year, but since you've already heard that):

Knock Knock by DJ Koze

Guitar-based (unless you mean electric only):

qp by 青葉市子 [Ichiko Aoba]

Dreamy pop:

Sugar & Spice by Hatchie

East Asian:

무너지기 [Crumbling] by 공중도...Air Thief]

Hip-Hop:

I have some ideas but fine whatever... does it make you a bigger loser for having to ask? Laughing

Kanye's only incredible album this year was his production on DAYTONA. I am not applying any penalty to that assessment.

Erm...

Jean Grae x Quelle Chris - Everything's Fine is super bawpy, but super funny and well put together.

Phonte - No News Is Good News is kinda dated-sounding, soulful conscious rap, but really fucking good.

Hermit & the Recluse - Orpheus vs. the Sirens is dark, minimalist New York revivalism with lofty literary ambitions.

Roc Marciano - Behold a Dark Horse is psychedelic, outsized New York revivalism with scumbag comedy ambitions.

Payroll Giovanni & Cardo - Big Bossin Vol. 2 is less bawpy, but is super luxurious West Coast production meets super unpretentious gangster rap.

Slightly less under the radar that you have a chance of liking:

Noname - Room 25 is sexy poetry slam rap over swampy, live, jazz rap beats.

Earl Sweatshirt - Some Rap Songs is soulful, lo-fi neurotica.

jpegmafia - Veteran is glitchy, noisy, kitchen sink rap with a funny provocative streak.

A Breukelen Story by Masta Ace & Marco Polo

This came out November 9th and I just added it to the database today. Anyone who likes A Long Hot Summer should check it out. It might not reach the same heights, but it's still great.

Yeah, I really liked it. Landed just outside my top 50.

Thanks, yeah the Hermit and the Recluse album was really phat, and c'mon you should know I don't be slacking on the Roc. But yeah if there are anymore perhaps non-BAWPy hip-hop albums that are vital, love to hear it too, as well as any more obscure UK contributions. Looking for that special 2018 master-stroke.

Feels like this year was considerably weaker than the past 2-3 years for me.
