Listened to Kids See Ghosts 4-5 times now. Still torn whether I think it's good or great.

I'm adoring this 7 song, 20-25 minute format Kanye has going, it feels great having a short, no nonsense listen with no filler. Kids See Ghosts is the first release I feel really could have used an extra song or two. Daytona is so sharp and immediate that it actually feels like the longest of three, Ye was so dull I was probably glad it didn't go on any longer, but KSG really comes across more like an EP than an album. Can't put my finger on why.

I can't get over how 'Reborn' just hangs in the middle of the whole thing. The whole song just feels really awkward, like it was rushed in pushing the album out. The hook is kind of cool, but god damn do those 5 minutes feel like an absolute slog. When you've got your headphones on and focusing on the album, it's a difficult listen everytime, feels like a wall.

I'm not even sure if I mind it that much. There isn't a weak song here, but also nothing absolutely earth shattering. I actually feel like Kanye steals the show on this one. These are probably the best verses I've ever heard from him, and they come from nowhere. 'Cudi Montage' is kind of flat but when Kanye delivers his verse and starts mumble-singing the chorus, it takes the thing to a whole other level in a way I never would have expected. Got me excited about Kanye again, honestly. And his vocal sampling suits Cudi so well, who actually does well to kind of melt into the background of most songs.

Really tight little package overall. Definitely something you can just put on, enjoy, and then move on from. It's a whole level down from Daytona, but got me amped up again for the next releases.

Been pretty obsessed with these lately...

A Laughing Death In Meatspace by Tropical Fuck Storm

Latest evolution of the Drones. Socio-political Aussie art punk.

Lump by LUMP

Laura Marling + Mike Lindsay (Tuung/Throws). Perfect lyrical art pop.

1984 by Joan Of Arc

Two decades in, and there's still no predicting what Joan of Arc does next. Odd, witty, unconventional, minimal indie rock

Minus by Daniel Blumberg

70s style singer/songwriter album resembling Bill Fay

Damn...I didn't see that coming considering his suspect opinions on other (better) Kanye albums. Plus he's never liked anything Cudi has been apart of it seemed. I love the album but a 10? That's a huge surprise.

First 10 since TPAB possibly?

Also fun fact: Cudi has now gotten both a 0 and a 10 on melons channel.

Well it is official. Cudi went from Zero to Hero. Just like that.
