Latest E-40 is great, new Manga (Saint Hilare) and co. is great, new Ka is genius, and Big Bossin Vol. 2 gets better with every listen. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Kero Kero Bontio dropped a surprise album (I know we have some fans on here).
Also, you guys can't miss the Avantdale Bowling Club record. Really awesome stuff. The new Jlin's worth a listen too, but it's not up to standards of her other work (which is fine, it's not intended as an album, but it's still pretty solid).

So Roc Marciano's Behold a Dark Horse is his best since Reloaded, and possibly ever. His flow, his singing, those gorgeous beats - everything here is more accessible than anything else he's ever done. Most influential rapper/producer of the past decade? I haven't been this excited about a new album since To Pimp a Butterfly or Apocalypse, girl. This shit already been on repeat, and it's staying there. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Will have to check it. I can see why you might make an argument for him being the best, but why would you put him in the conversation for most influential? _________________ Add me on RYM

Since Marcberg dropped, you can hear his outsized yet insular, wordy, grimy stylings and lo-fi production all over artists like Ka, Earl Sweatshirt, Quelle Chris, Action Bronson, billy woods, Westside Gunn and Conway, Willie the Kid, Knowledge the Pirate, NxWorries, Mach Hommy, Ratking/Wiki, Meyhem Lauren, Hus Kingpin, Your Old Droog, etcetera. Without him, I think the hip-hop landscape would look completely different. Alongside Lil Wayne's influence on Atlanta rap and The Neptunes'/Kanye's on Chicago/Brockhampton/Odd Future (and arguably also Good Kid, m.A.A.d City's huge influence on lots of people), I think it's fair to point to Roc Marci as one of the sculptors of the current (wider) rap scene. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Some recent stuff I'm pretty obsessed with:
MITH by Lonnie Holley
Somewhere along the lines of Gil-Scott Heron and Willis Early Beal. Atmospheric soul with a lot of intelligent things to say about the state of the world.
Aftering by Fred Thomas
Lyrical half spoken/half sung indie rock. For fans of Kozelek and Hold Steady _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
