Goat Girl by Goat Girl
Debut album by all girl post punk band from south London. Paid their dues and got their just reward. Great album with some cracking tracks. Check ‘em out. |
I had high hopes for this LP based on the above and excitedly tracked down a copy to listen to. Totally disappointed. It’s all over the fucking shop, with pointless interludes, sub-par Fall stompers and Angel Olsen cast-offs amidst (admittedly) a couple of decent tracks. Luckily I’ve found a Gallic antidote:
Lost And Found by En Attendant Ana |
Shame that it wasn’t to your liking jimmy dread. Played it again last night and loving it even more that the first listen. Might be a grower for you.

Possibly, but it’s far too ploddy an affair to do much for me, truth be told. I was all ready to jump in my car and drive up to Talbot Road to pick up a copy (female post-punk tends to tick all the right boxes for me), but then I got to the 5th track and heard what sounded like the guy from the Lo-Fidelity Allstars and alarm bells started to ring. It went downhill thereafter. _________________ 'Reggae' & t'ing

Sorry that it’s not to your liking but at least you gave it a go which is the important thing.

Vacation In Hell by Flatbush Zombies
New Flatbush Zombies is packed with heat. It's a bit long, but surprisingly consistent. My favorite rap album of the year so far, but I'm sure that will change.

Damn that cover art reminds me so much of Crack-up by Fleet Foxes. I'll check it out.

I've already mentioned this album in here but I'm listening to this album again and I gotta say that Leslie Winer's vocal performance om YMFEES is really incredible. Like I was already super on board with the back half of the album but on this listen I'm noticing this sense of urgency on the first track, like there's something so perfect in the speed the phrases are coming and how quickly the delays pick them up, it's so good.
