Silly n00b question: Is there a setting that would keep me from automatically watching albums for new comments when I leave a comment myself? I can't seem to identify it or anything in the forums speaking to it. Thanks.

Hi, this can be turned off in the 'Site Notifications' settings from your profile.

If you select 'No' to 'notify me when someone replies to one of my album, band or chart comments' then you should no longer receive any emails. HTH.

So I guess I kind of figured it out by turning off "Notify me when someone replies to one of my album, band or chart comments." But I do that and the option to watch an album goes away entirely. The only way to get it back is to turn back on the setting that automatically subscribes me when I comment. So I guess my question is now more of a request/suggestion to let users just opt-in on comments on an individual basis. Unless there's a way to do that I'm missing?

Thanks for all y'all do.

Feel like maybe I didn't express that request very well. When I have that notification turned on, I have the option to watch an album, whether I've commented or not. (In other words, there's my "let users just opt-in on comments on an individual basis.") What I'd love is a setting where I can tell the system not to presume I want to watch an album, just because I've commented on it, maintaining that same opt-in vibe. Thanks again.

Sorry, crossed wires there. The existing functionality could also be extended to include an opt-in option for people that have the setting turned off, and I''ll add that to the list as something to be added in the future as I think it's a great idea for people who want an intermediate option.

The only way to do that at the moment would be to the turn the setting back on and unsubscribe from any existing threads that you don't want to be notified of, and for future comments just uncheck where you don't want to be notified. I know it's not what you are asking just a round about way of doing the same thing until the functionality is modified.

Yeah, that's what I had been doing, but I think I've decided that turning it off altogether is my laziest option. Thank you for even considering that modification, much less actually implementing it.

There's also the "stop watching this album" feature you can click if you want to just stop watching/getting notifications for a single album, but still want them for others.

It's at the very bottom of the album page.
