How many of these do you need? It's maybe not so fair to have the diaries of others off of page one because you have 16 of them? Or maybe do them in the music forum...

Based on your previous comments I have a strong hunch there is more to your "complaint" than this, in that it is at least partially out of spite or a somewhat veiled annoyance at my selections, but I will see if a response is worthwhile, despite having my doubts...

(If you are merely commenting out of "spite", I would just consider skipping it from here on out. It really is a waste of time -- most of all, yours. I have been dedicatedly covering art for roughly 20 years now and I can assure you it is of no consequence to me if you are annoyed by my selections, analyses, opinions, Scaruffi, etc.)

That aside...

The first answer is: No, not moving to the Music Forum as they are my own selections/diaries, not a compilation etc.

Yes, I do need all of them, because of how much content I cover (music, film, paintings -- all genres of...). I have considered merging all of the "genre" lists onto one thread, though I am a little at odds with this because I do like to focus on each one individually, and having a combo of all of them could make discussion and updating a bit of a confusion for myself/those following. Plus, I intentionally want to "highlight" each genre and its subs/offshoots, as they each deserve their own appreciation with their own advancements and masterpieces. So I'm not sure I will, but I am considering it (fwiw).

The truth is that I only post a notification of updates of these (or any) of my lists when there has been enough updates to now say so. I really don't do so all that often, except during periods where I am intensively working on 1, 2 or maybe (occasionally) a few of them.

I also don't personally care if mine stay at the top of the page or not. I simply have such a wide spectrum of genres and content that I have found it useful over the years to "alert" those interested/following it, that I have infact made various updates on whatever list or lists they apply to -- so simply want to post said notification and then I am sure anyone interested will see it soon enough.

As a matter of fact, if you or anyone feels like one-too-many of my pages are keeping yours off the first page, I will gladly comment on yours to bump it to personally send it to the top (once in a week). When this is the case, just PM a request to me if and when an issue (but only if/when this seems to have been "caused" by me, such as after I do a sudden spurt of updates ... or if too many of mine are on the 1st page at the same time and have bumped yours down to the 2nd ... etc).

I don't care if you comment on mine. I update mine almost daily, so I do not need the help. But thank you.

I interjected here only because the music diary forum was kind of meant to be a place where users could have a place where they could update what music they were listening to and to be able to be visible, and to not be buried in the Music forum. I am thinking that it was not intended for one user to take over the forum and have 16 and counting different diaries going on at once. If you would notice, you would see that most users have at most a couple of diaries here...most only have one, and most are able to encompass multiple genres in one diary. Most users will only need one. I know you like to see yourself talk...a lot...and I know that you like to think of yourself as Scaruffi Jr. (or Sr.)...but whatever. My suggestion is that if you need this many different avenues to say what you need to say, maybe the music forum is a better place for that (it's actually the one that could use more traffic), leaving the Music Diaries forum to those who need only a single thread, but would like to not be forced to post more than they want to in order to have their diaries visible because one user needs 16 or more of these to say what they want to say. You currently are taking five spots on the front page. People get discouraged and tend to participate less if they are relegated to page two and beyond. This has been a diary forum...but also a casual one. I would think that people would want it to stay that way and not be dominated by a single user.

Just saying...this isn't all about you. It's also about others having the ability to be visible as well. If everyone did what you are doing...we would have a pretty huge mess here instead of a nice little community of diaries, and this particular forum would likely be gone and we would be back to trying to be heard in the Music forum. I'm just suggesting that you try to be fair about it. You post enough to keep yourself relevant in the Music forum. Maybe that would be better than taking almost complete control of the Diaries forum.

I really have no problem with your opinions on music (you know what they say about opinions about music). I don't really care much for Scaruffi, but that is also irrelevant. My concern is that this little sub forum that has been a casual place for users to have a diary on the side not become dominated by a single user who feels that each genre (and his criteria for rating) all deserve separate threads. The Music forum moves faster, and would, I believe, be a better place for what you are doing (which I actually do believe has value).

OR...perhaps a separate AfterHours forum?...It never hurts to ask...

Thanks for your time. I'm not trying to be combative...I'm sorry if it comes across that way.

My answer doesnt need to be elaborated on but, to reiterate, I may combine some lists if it makes enough sense and doesnt mess up their purpose. Regardless, I already provided the solution in that I will personally bump any diary(ies) upon request (with an actual comment about the content) so if there really was an issue before, there is no longer.

with all due respect, i don't think that's a solution. not only does that not address the underlying issue, but it instigates a "scratch my back" scheme to participating in threads, one that likely results in plastic discussion and empty platitudes.

do you really have 16 diaries running? perhaps it's time to start your own blog/website? t or heck, if you feel it's necessary to keep this many threads going here, maybe you should have your own forum.
