Are there any artists that people are always telling you "They're actually very good, despite what you may have heard.". So then you give them a listen, and they're just as horrible and terrible as you thought. Here's the top three that people most often tell me.. " No, really. They're actually really good!!!".

Taylor Swift
Bruno Mars
Lady Gaga

Which ones do you hear that are supposedly "very good"?

I wouldn't call him very good, but I think Bruno Mars has some good songs, particularly on his last album.

Do you want to read something very funny.

Around 4 years ago I purchased his latest album "Unorthodox Jukebox" for my 3 girls to listen to.
The song "locked out of heaven" was #1 in Canada for > 10 weeks. So he was at the top of his game.
I go to concerts regularly and watch a wide variety of entertainment, so I promised 1 one my girls to buy a couple of Bruno Mars tickets.
It was in Toronto and the show was sold out (the seating capacity for the venue is approximately 25, 000 people). Guess what? I'm not kidding-there was >20,000 WOMEN. IT WAS Crazy!! Beautiful women everywhere. The smell of woman's perfume was in the air. Every song that he sang, 20000 women sang with him.
He is so incredibly talented in many different ways-- singing, dancing, playing the drums, is there anybody better than him as a pop songwriter-- this guy is the real deal. When this guy writes a song about breaking up every woman is crying; if he wrote a song about taking your clothes off, he would have everyone throwing there underwear at him. His songwriting is as good as Bruce Springsteen-- and that's a big statement.
I was totally entertained by him and his band. What a show!!! 2 hours of pure joy!! I'm not joking.

2 weeks later I went to see the Eagles perform. What a fucking YAWN!!!!
I paid 3x the price of tickets, I was 50 feet from the stage and the show sucked.
They suck and the energy that was on stage was non-existent.
But I have to mention that Joe Walsh saved the show. Otherwise it was a bust.

Today Bruno Mars plays the air Canada centre which seats approximately 35000 for concerts and he sells out the place. I pray that I can see this guy perform again.

So, I don't agree with you observation. Sorry.
Give this guy credit, he's amazing and will be around for a while. I hope

It's not so much that Drake is bad, but I am just tired of hearing how "legendary" he is when he continues to release lazy and clearly below average material, especially in recent years.

Here is what I find shocking.
I purchased "Damn"- the studio album by Kendrick Lamar.
Its rated by everyone, including this site, as a fabulous album.
I have seen it on numerous sites as a top 5 album of 2017.
So I decided to buy it. Lets check out this new guy.

IT REALLY SUCKS!!!!
I couldn't even listen after 4 songs. It was painful. I wasn't ready for what he had to say and the way he sang it!!
I didn't find it musical. Its alien RAP. I could listen to beastie boys- but this guy is from another planet.
I didn't enjoy it.
Apparently its not his best stuff (according to my sons friend).

Am I an old man? By many standards the answer is yes. But I do enjoy listening to music.
But I just couldn't listen to "DAMN'.
Yet, everyone in the media world mention his name and abilities in this day and age.
Many believe he is the new "messiah".
I just don't get it. Really strange.

I am another old guy (45) that doesn't quite get Kendrick. I do not dislike him and like Damn more than you but to me he is ok not a genius. Id put his stuff much further down charts then his supporters do thats for sure. PS i to think Bruno Mars sucks can he put on a show yeah but to me his music sucks ass and comparing him to Springsteen please.

I was thinking that it never bothers me what other people like as I'm so easy going. Its their business after all. Then I realised some things over the years probably really have done. Usually when something got really praised and people appear to feel really self-satisfied about liking it and I've seen this as unfair.

Californication by the Red Hot Chillies really upset me, because everyone I knew had it and loved it and played it constantly. Drove me crazy. I just thought it was less interesting than other things at the time.

Then Eva Cassidy was really popular (after her untimely death). And everyone was so well-meaning about liking her music. But this kind of adulation I found really annoying.

The other one is Michael Bouble. Just the way DJs and presenters would talk about how great his music was would wind me up.

I probably don't mind so much now, but those ones came to mind.
