For commercial hits that don't resemble a composer I would say The Flight of the Valkyries by Wagner for sure. It is completely void of typical Wagner craftsmanship, and not at all like the sensitive, beautiful, and often romantic stuff that is typical of his greatest period.

Mc Cartney :
Où Est le Soleil (b-side & bonus CD track of Flowers in The Dirt. By the way, these CD bonus tracks often ruined the track listings)
Appreciate (from album New)
And surely a few more..

Some strange choices. A Passage to Bangkok, All My Love and Sweet Leaf? Even Too Old.. is a good tune in my book |
RE: Too old...
I really should love that one. I love Tull, I love Ian Anderson, I especially love their output from that era, and tha subject matter seems right up Anderson's alley, so it should have been a perfect album, like Aqualung or Thick as a Brick. But to me, it sounds like it just plods along without the expected level of wit, attitude and satire I expect. It's like Anderson's just trying too hard on this one and the album suffers as a result.
Sweet Leaf, on the other hand, does not plod at all--that is one of the all time killer riffs in music history. But the subject matter? A whole song about how discovering weed completely changed your life? C'mon.

If I had to pick one by the Beatles it would be Mr Moonlight.
But it's also kinda cute and old-fashioned so I don't totally hate it.
I even really like the ones a lot of people dislike like Don't Pass Me By and Yellow Submarine. I even like Revolution 9. I almost never skip it when I play the White Album.
Maybe the really early Beatles stuff on Anthology like The Sheik of Araby. I can't relate to that much. Then again it was recorded over 55 years ago so it might sound too old-fashioned to my ears.
Oh I thought of one I don't like. Run For Your Life. One of Lennon's misogynistic bullshit ones. Ruins the whole Rubber Soul album for me. I could easily live without that one.

My least favorite Nick Cave song used to be "Green Eyes" but I eventually understood its charm. "Rock of Gibraltar" is unforgivable though. Though I've only (fairly recently) got like 600 tracks rated on here, all by artists I am very familiar with so far, that is the lowest rated song so far at 2 stars (perhaps generous because I'm biased towards Cave but that song blows). My lowest Beatles and Zeppelin song are 2.5 while the next lowest Cave song is a 3.

Genesis - Invisible Touch (many other Collins era stuff, but this is arguably the worst) |
Agreed (except from that lovely discreet little guitar riff) |
I know. I always thought that little guitar thing in it was wonderful too. And that's why I love hearing that song. It's the kind of little thing that can turn a song from average into awesome. And it's those little touches that make you want to hear a song over and over again. And they make it a lot more durable over time.

Funny that you should mention showroom dummies by Kraftwerk. But for me it would be The Robots on The Man-Machine. It's just way too obvious. And way too Goofy. And too predictable. It makes you cringe. All kraftwerk's albums I find have at least one song like that. Just way too obvious.

Totally agree. I LIKE ALL THE RINGO SONGS!! And Revelation 9.
Now you mention it Run for Your life is pretty horrible when you think about the lyrics.
I would go with "a taste of honey" from the debut though. Just very random and unbeatlesy!
