THESE WERE THE TOP VOTE-GETTERS

Gimme Shelter.... 18
Sympathy for the Devil... 11
She's a Rainbow... 11
Paint It Black... 10
Wild Horses... 8
Street Fighting Man... 8
You Can't Always Get What You Want... 7
Jumpin Jack Flash... 6
Tumbling Dice... 6
Brown Sugar... 5
2000 Light Years From Home... 5
Ruby Tuesday...5
Honky Tonk Women...4
Satisfaction... 4
Miss You...4

And nothing else got more than 3..

And I was pleased that 8 of my picks turned out to be in the overall top 10. Not really surprised but pleased.

Actually there is one thing that surprised me. Not surprised, more like shocked: Happy didn't get any votes besides mine. And considering that Exile on Main Street is their highest rated album, none of its songs got very many votes. Tumbling Dice is the only song that got more than one vote. I think that's weird.

Idk. I never really thought of counting up which got the most mentions. I just posted the topic out of curiosity. But it's a good idea. I think I'll add them up. It'll be fun to see.

In that case, I'll play along:

1. Gimme Shelter
2. Satisfaction
3. Paint It, Black
4. Under My Thumb
5. Get Off of My Cloud
6. Jumpin' Jack Flash
7. Mother's Little Helper
8. She's a Rainbow
9. Something Happened to Me Yesterday
10. Sympathy For The Devil

Ok. 2 people posted lists while I was adding them up, so I'm going to go back and add those ones in too.

Bobbyb5 - You're right - I was just thinking on the train this morning - I'd bring Happy in to my Top 10 at the expense of Country Honk - if it's not too late...

Obviously Gimme Shelter was always gonna win. Beatles soo much better then Stones, but Gimme Shelter as good as anything Beatles ever did (except Strawberry Fields...)

It would still only bring it up to two votes for Happy. I didn't put down anything that had less than 3 votes. it's actually my favorite of anything they did in the entire seventies. And I really don't like anything they did after 1976.

Actually there is one they did after 76 that I really really like. Hang Fire. And I can definitely understand people thinking Some Girls is great. But to me they were just too different by then.
It just didn't sound like the Rolling Stones anymore. Sounded like something else. In my mind, the last great songs of the old Rolling Stones was three or four on black and blue. And then they became the new stones.
