Currently I have 45 albums of 1992 in year chart of that year but although I think I have a fairly good view on the year I still have to an overall overview so this is a fantastic way to do this. Also because I want to re-listen and re-score also the albums which I already know.

When I look at my top 45 I regards the first 35 albums as really worthwile an this is the list with a bit of background:

1.

Rocking The Forest / Sebadoh Vs. Helmet by Sebadoh
I know many people would consider this a compilation but to me it isn't completely as it a full album combined with an EP. It's my number one album overall (not only for 1992) so I'll certainly come back to it.

2.

Copper Blue by Sugar

And this is my overall fourth album which confirms that I consider 1992 as one of the best years in rock music. I suppose everybody knows this one so I don't need to introduce it too much.

3.

Dirty by Sonic Youth

After Daydream Nation together with Sister the second and third SY album. It's in the top 10 of 1992 so everybody should know this one as well.

4. Autocannibalism by The Aints:
I have already tried to promote Ascension in the 1991 topic and this is a good second one of this underrated band offsprung from the Australian punk band the Saints but much more guitar and jazz influenced.

5. Palomine by Bettie Serveert
One of the best powerrock albums ever with original guitar work, good songs and an angelic voice of the female singer.

6. Magnapop by Magnapop
One of the best female rock albums ever with a fabolous version of 13.
7. Automatic For The People by R.E.M.
Great REM record
8. T.V. Sky by The Young Gods: Swiss industrial: might sound strange but it's a great album
9. May I Sing With Me by Yo La Tengo
I'm currently in a Yo La Tengo frenzy (thx Komo an you'll hear more on this in another post) and apart from re-listening to albums I already knew I also discovered some new ones and this one already shot up high in my 1992 top chart
10. Tossing Seeds (Singles 89-91) by Superchunk
A collection of singles from this band which already ruled 1991
11. Let Me Come Over by Buffalo Tom
One of the classics of this year but for one reason or another Big Letter Day of 1993 overtook this one
12. Sweet Oblivion by Screaming Trees
The firs album I discovered of this band and still one of their best
13. Slanted & Enchanted by Pavement
Again one of the absolute classics of 1992
14. Harvest Moon by Neil Young
Even the mellower Neil Young albums are great
15. Revenge Of The Goldfish by Inspiral Carpets
And here I have Michael1981 to thank for letting me express my love for this band in his Britpop forum: not their best album but a solid third
16. Going Blank Again by Ride
another classic and best record of this underrated band which shouldn't be confined to just the shoegaze category
17. De Mens by De Mens
A Belgian album with some great lyrics I'll translate to the people interested.
18. Spooky by Lush
More great shoegaze
19. Your Arsenal by Morrissey
One of the better post-Smiths albums by Morrissey
20. Insideout by Ratcat
The album cover might be better than the one of Blind Love Wink but this certainly weaker than that 1991 classic: but still very good
21. Er Sterft Een Beer In De Taïga by De Kreuners
Translated as A bear dies in the taiga by the Moaners: again sung in Flemish but great powerpop for the adventurous amongst you.
22. Bivouac by Jawbreaker
23. It's A Shame About Ray by The Lemonheads
another indie classic of the nineties
24. A Picture Of Nectar by Phish
recently discovered as part of my Phish frenzy
25. You Turn Me On by Beat Happening
26. Slo*Blo by Cell
again an underrated classic I really would like to promote here
27. Honey's Dead by The Jesus And Mary Chain
28. The Pop Tarts by Green
Not their best album (listen to White Soul !) but still better than most of the best of many other bands
29. Ferment by Catherine Wheel
If there's one emo band which deserves much more credit it's this band
30. Incesticide by Nirvana
If you're a fan of Nirvana don't forget this one
31. Bedlam A Go Go! by Something Happens
second best album of a great band
32. Welcome To Wherever You Are by INXS
Their best
33. Gorky by Gorky
If there's one track you should hear: Mia: a Belgian classic
34. Fully Completely by The Tragically Hip
Gordon Downie rules: the album which made me discover them and still one of their best
35. Main Offender by Keith Richards
Better than the Stones albums around that time

Sorry maybe a bit overdone for a start but this is only the beginning: BEWARE !!!

Thanks for this list, lots of new stuff I haven't heard before.

I don’t exactly have a top 10 or 20 put together yet but I know Pavement, R.E.M. & Aphex Twin would most likely be at the top. I did see someone put Dirty down Laughing , and we both know how you feel about it now. So I guess it’s not a good look showing up to the party empty handed but you’ve probably already heard these...

Henry`s Dream by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds

In Ribbons by Pale Saints

You know, I've never listened to either these enough, and I've always meant to. Was just thinking this afternoon that I need to listen to Henry's Dream. Will throw it on tonight.
