An important element of some songs that we all love is that they're something we can relate to, in many cases it's what gives you the urge to sing along to something, because you can feel close to what is being sung about. What are some songs that you can relate to?

For me:
Queen - Somebody to Love
Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion (First & Second line)
The Beatles - In My Life
Zeppelin - Good Times Bad Times
Zeppelin - Over the Hills and Far Away
Zeppelin - Ramble On
Bowie - Changes
Dinosaur Jr. - Freak Scene

You know, I rarely pay attention to lyrics, but sometimes I'm so struck by them, I can't help but pay attention.

I'll list some later.

The kind of lyrics that I like best are the nonsense- style lyrics. I suppose they're not very relatable, more like it's just the kind that I like the most. Especially the kind where you don't notice at first that they're nonsense. Beck, Bob Dylan (he really only did it on his really early stuff), and Stone Temple Pilots were especially good at this.

@ Glynspa

Yeah, I like old Lyrics by people like Dylan, and also Roger Waters and Fleetwood Mac. They were among the first to to really "keep it real". Most of these classic rock lyrics describe a fantasy life, which is lame.

I've always been really inspired by the last verse in Simon and Garfunkel's The Boxer. I guess it touches the fighting spirit in us all.

I'd have to second The Beatles' In My Life... damn those lyrics are good.

U2's All I Want Is You and Where the Streets Have No Name
R.E.M.'s Hairshirt and Sweetness Follows
Paul Simon's Gumboots (Breakdowns come and breakdowns go, what are you gonna do about it, I'd like to know)
Also his... All my Life, I've been a wonderer.... not really, I mostly lived in my parents home... (I'm pretty sure I spit out a drink or something the first time I heard that).

Idk... there's probably a bunch more, but that's what comes to mind.
