I was just noticing the Caribbean not getting the love and was hoping you'd make up for it.

But if you want 6 votes for classical, I'll put that on the tally?

Of course you are not a one-trick pony. Plenty of other stuff I've seen you give great contributions to. Hyperbole is not allowed.

So I vote for them.

Cool - you can vote for 3 more, but I'll add those 3 for the tally.

So, genres that got 0 votes, what do we do with them? I think that New Age and Ambient could go together. I know a lot of albums that are considered New Age, and what it comes down to is it's really just a commercial label that was used to sell music that was considered "relaxing". Artists like Yanni or Enya might come to mind when one thinks New Age, but there is a lot more substance there than people may realize.

I'm cool with New Age and Ambient being on the same spiel if nobody objects.

also some asian folk music because I didn't get to go to Japan

Not sure if serious or joking or seriously joking or joking seriously, but I'll tally that as:

A vote for regional and a vote for rock.

That leaves you with 4 more to choose from.

Know
1. Rock (pretty wide term but yeah)
2. Metal
3. Jazz

Would like to know more
1. Classical
2. Electronic/Ambient
3. Avant-Garde/Hip Hop

I'm counting this as:
Rock (Metal)
Jazz
Classical
Electronic
Avant-garde
Hip-Hop

Ambient CAN be counted as electronic, but for some isn't. But that just makes it easy for me. If you want to change let me know.

Counted your New Age into the combined Ambient & New Age category as Chief suggested if that's ok. People can still vote New Age and if we get over 3 or so maybe separate or if not, we can keep the same if all the same to those compiling lists for the later threads.

I'd also like to vote for:

4. Jazz
5. R&B
6. Avant-garde

There any point in doing a general rock competition? When we get to rock subgenres, it'll be more interesting, but rock already has the overall list, most of the other lists and pretty much every poll and music game on here.

I agree, in fact Rock/Metal generally appears on peoples "know about" list but not on "want to know more about" so I think it won't be as interesting as the other genres, which are less known on this site.
