The only album that I have listen to is Victorialand. And I remember I love it a lot. Though I kinda forgot about due to listening to other albums. Then again I do want to hear Cocteau Twins albums again. Those were experiences. And I do have a feeling I will enjoy the rest.

Didn't vote myself, but this is a good batch. Only familiar with Donavan, Townes, and Cluster & Eno, but I like the rest as much as like those three it should be a fun time.

So I finished of Donovan's album. And it was good. Hell I could argue it was great. It was very mellow. Enjoyed his vocal style and approach as well as some songs being somewhat engaging. But that is the key word. Because though I do think this is a good project. I wasn't blown away by it. Hell I would argue I got a bit bored by it. However, is was an entertaining ride. Grade:75

Now, I remember why that Donovan album is so good. I don't care for Nick Drake that much, and this album was a better version of Pink Moon before that album was an apple in Nick Drake's eye. That 2nd album is so fragile sounding, I'm afraid to even cough during it, for fear of knocking Donovan and his Scottish folkiness right over. I know Donovan caught flak for being a Dylan imitator by some (a ridiculous accusation) did Nick Drake ever get called a Donovan imitator?

I used to listen to the Donovan's greatest hits album all of the time. I enjoyed revisiting this whole album.

But yeah, that's a tasty top 10. Nice to see Bill get some love. And Mum recently squeezed into my top 100 as well... what a fantastic band, truly.

The Durutti Column, Buckley, Dadawah, Cocteau Twins and Townes Van Zandt records are all favourites of mine, and even the Wild Nothing album is pretty tight. Looking forward to hearing what I haven't heard (and diving a bit past the top 10, into murkier territory).

Reason first listened: Was going through the RYM overall chart and found this amazing record that quickly became one of my favorite country albums.

#6 Victorialand - Cocteau Twins
Year first listened: 2018
Reason first listened: Went on a Cocteau Twins binge for the Women's History Month Listening Project, partly inspired by seeing this dreamy album high on the very chart we're now discussing.

#8 Nocturne - Wild Nothing
Year first listened: 2013
Reason first listened: Liked Gemini thanks to a Genius sidebar recommendation (RIP), and then went for the follow-up not long after its release. Don't remember it well aside from putting a song on a mix CD, so I'll have to go back.

Outside of being earnest folk albums, I don’t think Nick Drake’s efforts and this Donovan album have anything in common. They have two completely different approaches, not to mention their atmosphere is entirely different. I always feel Nick Drake’s efforts are more “earthy” while Donovan (especially here) conveys a more “airy” tone. Both are emotionally poignant, just in different hemispheres.

Drake has more in common with Walker rather than Dylan or Donovan
