What did everyone think of the new Arctic Monkeys album??

It's quite a controversial album but I suppose that's sort of what Alex Turner was aiming for. What're your thoughts?

In my opinion, I think it's dull, but not terrible. She looks like fun is a class song, but the only good one on there (I did not like four out of five at all). I think it was a bit samey-samey all the way through. I feel, and feel free to argue here, it was a bit of a sort of weird attempt at a sgt peppers, in a sense that he tried to change it up a lot, it worked for the beatles but with a band with such a specific market such as arctic monkeys, it was very difficult to pull it off. It wasn't an explicitly bad album, it just felt a bit empty and perhaps turners losing it or maybe he's building up to the next album.

Thoughts???????

I really like it! It's their best. I used to really like their old stuff, but as I've grown up it's a felt a bit trite, though I still rate some of it. This is a lot more mature, and interesting. Alex Turner's lyrics have really improved (and he was no slouch before). I like the more introspective and honest angle. Plus the instrumentals are more subtle and layered.

But that being said I've been feeling really bad for liking this band at all, particularly AM because a lot of people dislike that album. I don't know why I can't shake it, I should just be content with my own opinion and not care, but I've always been a bit pretentious and I kind of don't want to like music that's "mainstream," which I didn't have a problem with five years ago because I liked fitting in, but now fitting actually entails not liking this sort of stuff. Sorry, shit got real. Simple answer is, it's great they're trying something new, and its the most I've enjoyed an AM album in a long time.

This is also true, but it doesn't change my opinion about this obnoxious band.

Lol all the hate. They're better than pretty much all US modern pop rock bands if you ask me. AM wasn't a good album but it had great singles and some fantastic album songs. Tranquility is the opposite, works well as an album but the songs aren't that exciting. If you combined those two maybe it'd come close to their debut Very Happy
