# 5 Tous les garçons et les filles (1962) Françoise Hardy
This time, let’s first listen to the english version (made by the singer) called Find Me A Boy (different to the original title which means All the Boys and Girls)
The song tells the feelings of young person who has never known love and her envy of the young couples around her.
The record company didn’t believe this song could be a hit, (finding it too sad, in a context of joyful “Yé-Yé” mouvement) and placed it at the end of the 4 songs EP.
The little melancholic title eventually won the race and ended up being one of the most emblematic song of the french 60's.
Find Me a Boy (with session musician Jimmy Page !)
On the same theme of romance frustration, one might think of :
The Divine Comedy: Songs of Love
The Smiths: How Soon is Now, Please please Please, Let Me Get What I want

It's actually the only one I know by him. I saw him sing it in a movie once. I forget which movie it was.
It's actually sung by Maurice Chevalier (not Aznavour) in the film Gigi, with a funny thick french accent. I'm discovering it right now, thanks. Great song:
Yet another “hometown song” made in 1967 : ). This elegant and moving jazzy ballad combines simple observation of the town (as often with these songs) with an ample, nostalgic theme (and an even more nostalgic middle eight), all wrapped in a lush, impeccable (very 60’s vocal jazz in the studio) orchestration.
The first demo was a rather angry recollection of Toulouse, where Nougaro had spent a difficult childhood and teenage years, but his wife convinced him to make a “love chant” rather than a resentful one
