My friend recommended a band yesterday, blossoms, and they were just awful. But apparently everyone really likes them, which got me thinking about other overrated bands... what are yours?

Mine are:
-Foo Fighters
-The Doors
-U2
-Bruce Springsteen
-Oasis
-The Cure
-Coldplay
-Muse
-Red Hot Chilli Peppers
-Fleet Foxes

Kanye West
Metallica
Sex Pistols
Ramones
Kraftwerk
Radiohead
No Doubt/Gwen Stefani
Mike Gordon
Maroon 5
Dead and Co. (current touring band consisting of John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti, and the remaining members of the grateful dead minus bassist Phil Lesh. It shocks people i don't like them, but i don't even though i like the parts as a whole it just doesn't work for me.)

I'd be happy if people nowadays listened to any of those bands.. Now it's all about these overrated acts..

Migos
Cardi B
Rae Sremmurd
Fetty Wap
and many more I won't bother naming because you catch my drift by now..

These artists are making kids stupid. Sure, there's some catchy beats.. but I'd be willing to guarantee the people bumping these artists have no idea who the producer of the 'fire' tracks they're enjoying is..

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the evolution of music.. but this entire 'trap' movement that's happening right now just infuriates me. Such horrible music.. Such horrible influence..

Come at me with the hate.

No hate, but I respectfully disagree. We're both big hip-hop fans, but I like trap rap in addition to the classics. All four of those artists have multiple good songs, and I also enjoy several Migos full-lengths. I don't agree that it's making people stupid, at the very least not any more than popular music in the past.

Also I disagree about production. Producers are giants in the genre of trap rap, probably more so than in boom bap and other rap subgenres. And one often knows who they are while listening because the tags are widespread.

I will totally get shit for this list, but I feel like these artists are really high rated and did some cool stuff, but somehow miss the mark for me - mostly in the realm of consistency. It seems like they have a really highly ranked fanboi album and that's about it. I am likely wrong, so don't even try to fight me on it, it's just my opinion:

Can
Captain Beefheart
My Bloody Valentine
King Crimson
The Beach Boys
Neutral Milk Hotel
Television
The Who
The Smiths (I know, just kill me now)
The Strokes
The Stone Roses
Pearl Jam (even if they are amazing live)
Oasis (numbers 1-100)

Artists I like who could fit this bill anyway:
Nirvana
Arcade Fire
Pixies
Pearl Jam
Jeff Buckley

Foo - you are probably right, but Dave's a musical hero to me
The Doors - how dare you
U2- STFU
Oasis - Can they be erased from our collective memories?
The Cure - only a tinge
Coldplay - sad story really
Muse - again, sad story (so much hope came crashing so hard down, just like coldplay)
RHCP - It's probably because I'm a bassist and I feel there music has more heart than 1000 boring bands combined... but I know where you are coming from (see video).
Fleet Foxes should never have existed. So much more talent out there ignored.

so with this is it like you guys think fewer people should like these artists or that the people who do like these artists should continue to like them but with less intensity?
