Without Lindsey, Fleetwood Mac was the tired blues band that couldn't make it work with a large number of guitar players. You probably can't name the album before he joined...because Heroes Are Hard To Find showed why they needed Lindsey. They were done. Fleetwood Mac was over. Lindsey was basically the ONLY powerfully creative force in the band. The two women contributed songs...but it was Buckingham who made it sound like it did.

And the 1975 Mac album...the one before Rumours...continues to be horribly underappreciated on BEA.

That one with this song on it...

Even after all these years, I'm still not familiar with their old albums before 1974. I know what they all are,but for some reason I don't remember if I ever listened to them. I know that I like Mystery To Me a lot. That's the only one I know well though. I know that a lot of people really like Bare Trees and stuff like that. I should really listen to them.

Absolutely true, it's just as good as Rumours.

^^^^^ This- i agree.
Stevie nicks and lindsey buckingham added the ingredients that turned the group around. They were about to become a "has been band".

Tango in the night;
On Tango in the Night, the band lost its spirit. Its a relaxed, soft rock --- with no fire.

For a band that practically became a brand name franchise in the 70's, the band set a standard of quality that was tough to maintain or equal. They pulled off 2 masterpieces, Rumours and the self titled album of '75.
