I know there aren't tonnes of hockey fans here, but this is mostly an attempt to rouse the corpse of Necharsian from the grave.

NHL is back! What are your predictions?

*wildcard

Pacific
1. San Jose - lethal powerplay & tremendous balance in an aging line-up. Sleeper team.
2. Calgary - Eat it, Necharsian. If Smith is at all average, the Flames have enough depth up front and on D.
3. Anaheim - Great depth on D & quality goaltending. Terrible offense.
4. *Vegas - Big step back. Too many guys had career years last year.
5. LA - Too old.
6. Edmonton - lololololol. Still following the same formula. Only Ottawa & Montreal have worse management.
7. Arizona - Not crap anymore.
8. Vancouver - Getting it right with the rebuild, but it'll take time.

Central
1. Nashville - Still strong. So deep.
2. STL - Adding O'Reilly was huge.
3. Wpg - Will start slow, but be scary by the end of the year. So much young talent.
4. *Dal - Bounce back, but lacking depth.
5. Min - What is the identity of this team? Still, could squeak into playoffs.
6. Col - A step back, but still dangerous.
7. Chi - Glory days are long gone.

Metropolitan
1. *Was - A bit of a hangover, but so many teams are flawed in this division.
2. *Phi - Yup. The more they play the kids, the better.
3. *Pit - Not quite Chicago, but the sun is setting.
4. Clb - Missing Jones is huge.
5. NJ - No depth to prevent a step back.
6. Car - Sleeper team, but could go either way.
7. NYI - No Tavares = no playoffs.
8. NYR - Need an identity in this rebuild.

Atlantic
1. *TB - Too good, and still hungry.
2. *Tor - So much offense.
3. *Bos - Solid, but unspectacular.
4. *Fla - Finally pull it together.
5. *Buf - Jack Eichel finally sees some hope.
6. Mtl - Terrible management.
7. Det - Gettting there, but still need to turnover lineup.
8. Ott - Will be spectacularly bad.

Playoffs (way too early to pick, but who cares)

West
NSH over LV
SJ over DAL
CGY over ANA (finally)
WPG over STL

NSH over WPG
CGY over SJ

NSH over CGY

East
TB over BUF
FLA over WAS
TOR over BOS
PHI over PIT

TB over TOR
PHI over FLA

TB over PHI

Final

TB over NSH

Man this year has just been rough as a Blues fan. Such high expectations and just awful results.

So I was way off on the Islanders & Hurricanes, and overestimated Philly & the Ducks, but otherwise, I think I did OK.

Updated playoffs:

VGK over SJ in 6
NAS over DAL in 6
STL over WPG in 6

CGY over VGK in 6
NAS over STL in 7

CGY over NAS in 6

EAST
TB over CAR in 5
BOS over TOR in 6
CBJ over WAS in 7
PIT over NYI in 5

TB over BOS in 6
CBJ over PIT in 7

TB over CBJ in 5

I was basing on what I thought would happen last night... and my Flyers couldn't beat CAR. Dang.

So if CBJ is playing TB in the first round, all bets are off. Take my predictions, and swap CAR and CBJ. I still think WAS is prime for an upset, and I don't like PIT. Never have (PHI fan)

And hey Shame on you

Most America hockey teams are stuffed with Canadians.

....

But yeah... Anxious

All that aside, I'm predicting an upset Cup win by Vegas.

Well fuck. This year has been crazy. I'm used to Calgary underachieving, but Tampa was a shock. Shocked

My playoff pool is broken.
