Which Misfits album Baystate? Also, I originally was going to tell you to not look at the lyrics, but I knew you would anyway. Smile

Satyricon by David Shea

I've got to run into a bad one every once in awhile. This was an inconsistent album with no clear direction or theme. Some good ideas here and there but not anything coherent. Some of the sounds on here make me think of a really cheap Yamaha too.

Woman King, is a nice quick EP from Iron & Wine.

The Last Emperor - The Legend of Bigfoot
Darc Mind - Symptomatic Of A Greater Ill
Karin Krog- Joy
Colin Potter-2 nights
Xiphiidae - Used Parts Galaxy
Wongraven - Fjelltronen
Christina Kubisch ‎– Night Flights
Suarez 29:09:00
Death Toll 80k - Harsh Realities
Księżyc - Księżyc

If there's anything I've learned from Bay State it's to read the lyrics... I'm now terrified of liking a track publicly and it glorifying something as terrible as rape. Saying this a someone who typically notices lyrics 20% if the time.

I don't find anything wrong about the lyrics on the album personally; I'd say Cannibal Corpse is way worse. That's where we differ, but that's ok.

For the most part, I don't judge those who have stronger stomachs and/or different outlooks when it comes to disturbing lyrics. In many cases there is a heavy dose of sarcasm involved on the part of the artist writing said lyrics. An exception to the lack of judgment would be if someone says something like these lyrics are good because rape is funny. Or if they go on a rant about political correctness because I expressed my personal opinion on the lyrics.

Chief, it was Static Age.

P.S. Out of all the songs I've ever heard, the one I found to be the most lyrically disgusting was probably Pregnant Pussy by UGK.

Agreed. Seth bring back reader response criticism.

I figured it would probably be that one due to "Last Caress" which is probably their most depraved and poppy song at the same time. The juxtaposition kind of being the point, but I understand why someone wouldn't like to listen to that regularly.

1.

Woman King by Iron & Wine

This has been on my to-do list for a while, and it did not disappoint. It's Sam Beam in his prime, composing and performing a consistently great and appropriately compact collection of indie folk songs. 4/5.

~~~~~
2. Argentinian indie pop sounds promising. Go for 29:09:00.
~~~~~

3. Stop #26, CellarDoor's overall:

9. Methodrone - The Brian Jonestown Massacre
10. The Lioness - Songs: Ohia
17. Crazy Rhythms - The Feelies
20. Atomizer - Big Black
21. 13 Songs - Fugazi
26. I Often Dream Of Trains - Robyn Hitchcock
29. The Disintegration Loops I - William Basinski
35. Ash Ra Tempel - Ash Ra Tempel
36. Einstein On The Beach - Philip Glass
39. The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld - The Orb

Applause

Nice touch there mate. I didn't even think of it that way, but yes, that's exactly what I've unconsciously done. I still feel guilty though. I can't think of a track right now, but there's plenty where I've been guilty of loving a track musically and then someone is like, oh, by the way, that song is about worshiping Hitler or something, and I feel oh so dumb. But yeah, the track is in the eye of the beholder... I was like, but the bass line was killer and I really like that vocal tone, I had no idea he said any of that...

Actually I just remembered Paul Simon's Graceland now being a hot topic somewhat recently.

Rust In Peace by Megadeth

I didn't get into Megadeth at the time. I wasn't really into thrash and metal back then. Now with my more matured and open minded taste I don't mind a little bit, and combined with the respect I have for what they've done, I was looking forward to listening to their classic album for my first Megadeth album. However I feel much the same as back then - some great guitar solos and drumming, and it rocks hard, but the vocals bug me a bit, and I still don't really connect on a personal level. I much prefer Metallica and Anthrax from the big four. 7/10, and 33/43 for 1990.

Listen to Big Black Baystate. I used to love this album but haven't heard it for a very long time, and I've just realised it somehow got missed when I created my charts. I'm going to rectify that immediately.

Well Baystate, with Goat and Atomizer you now have your crashcourse in Steve Albini. Very Happy

I know you've listened to other productions from him, but those two are seminal for his particular sound.

If you like Stereolab, then you'll like this 20 minute EP from this Argentinian group. Might listen to a full length of theirs, but none of their albums seem to be too well-known.

The Last Emperor - The Legend of Bigfoot
Darc Mind - Symptomatic Of A Greater Ill
Karin Krog- Joy
Colin Potter-2 nights
Xiphiidae - Used Parts Galaxy
Wongraven - Fjelltronen

Death Toll 80k - Harsh Realities
Księżyc - Księżyc
Dom- Edge Of Time
