I like the energy of the shorter tracks, but what happens at the end? Tracks get longer and less interesting.

Shocked Maps and Y Control are by far the best songs though.

Lateralus by Tool

Technically, well done. In terms of making me feel something (not hard for music to accomplish), a failure. It doesn't make me feel anything, good or bad. I have the impression that there are more positives than negatives here, so I won't delete it, but I'm not overly impressed at first listen. 3/5.

2. Try the only album I've heard in full of those:

To Bring You My Love by PJ Harvey

55. Love Power Peace: Live At The Olympia, Paris, 1971 - James Brown
72. Lifestylez Of Da Poor & Dangerous - Big L [heard in 2016, rated 3/5]
79. Doggystyle - Snoop Dogg
80. Strangeways, Here We Come - The Smiths [heard in 2016, rated 3.5/5]

They are probably the best written songs on Fever To Tell, but the shorter punkier tracks sounded more original.

To Bring You My Love by PJ Harvey

Another great album; however, not quite as singular as the other two I have listened to for this game. The Nick Cave influence, especially on the first song, was really strong.

Exmilitary is my favorite Death Grips album, see how you fare with that one.

August and Everything After- Counting Crows
Metropolis Pt. 2- Dream theater
Sam's Town- The Killers
The Idler Wheel- Fiona Apple
Ray of Light- Madonna
Hopes and Fears- Keane
Modern Life Is Rubbish- Blur
All That You Can't Leave Behind- U2
Suede- Suede
Lungs- Florence + Machine

Clube Da Esquina by Milton Nascimento/Lô Borges

While this was often solid musically, somehow I lost interest in it. I want to say it's the delivery of the vocals. It's not the language itself, rather the delivery of the language. I did think some of the studio trickery was cool. I literally felt like the hard right pan felt nearly behind me in Cais. Probably somewhere between 80 and 85. On some fronts I felt it was quite original and other fronts I felt it wasn't. idk... hard one to judge. It's strongest suite really is the variety of sounds/styles played with and mostly all done well. It has a slight tinge of Beck or Paul Simon to it, so I like it.

2. The Idler Wheel- Fiona Apple is actually really good in my opinion. The vocal style took a bit at first, but then I really grew to like it a lot.

3.

214. Painkiller by Judas Priest (1990)
215. Sevent Son of a Seventh Son by Iron Maiden (1988)
220. Burzum by Filosofem (1996)
226. Clube da Esquina by Milton Nascimento & Lô Borges
228. Vol 4 by Black Sabbath (probably listened to, but another go for the refresh of the rating)

The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady by Charles Mingus

I knew this wouldn't take long to get picked for me considering it is held in such high regard here, and elsewhere, but I can now see why. That was a great, crazy, roller coaster ride of passionate emotion. One of the best jazz albums I've heard so far.

Seth, I haven't heard any of yours but Kyuss is the one I would choose to listen to out of them but there doesn't seem to be a Kyuss by Kyuss. Do you mean Welcome to Sky Valley from 1994? If so then that...if not then whatever Kyuss it is, or Ennio Morricone if needed.

Welcome To Sky Valley by Kyuss

My list (BEA best of the 60's)

28. The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan - Bob Dylan
29. The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society - The Kinks
34. Axis: Bold As Love - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
35. The Band - The Band
36. Help! - The Beatles (because 8 Beatles albums on my 60's chart obviously isn't enough)
37. Disraeli Gears - Cream
38. A Hard Days Night - The Beatles
39. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere - Neil Young And Crazy Horse
40. Hot Rats - Frank Zappa
41. Music From Big Pink - The Band

Beautiful title. For the music, I liked Teen Age Riot, and The Sprawl, but as a whole, there’s not much range and the production lacks contrast too. During listening I was in need of dear old Pixies.
However, I’d be happy to try another Sonic Youth album (preferably with a glossier production): any recommendation ?

2.
Purplepash, roll up for A Hard Days Night (satisfaction guaranteed) !

The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Drive...iona Apple

If I knew how to embed a GIF in here, then I was going to put Randy Jackson saying, "Yeah, that's going to be a no from me, dawg."

Yann, Sonic Youth's albums in the 00's, Murray Street, Sonic Nurse, and Rather Ripped, may be more to your liking production wise.

You should listen to Rain Dogs by Tom Waits.

August and Everything After- Counting Crows
Metropolis Pt. 2- Dream theater
Sam's Town- The Killers
Janis Joplin- Pearl
Ray of Light- Madonna
Hopes and Fears- Keane
Modern Life Is Rubbish- Blur

More like Beck and Paul Simon have a slight tinge of this haha. Both of them recorded music inspired by Brazilian music, and this is one of the landmark Brazilian albums.

Exmilitary by Death Grips

Wow, a Death Grips record that actually sounds pretty good. Too bad they veered away from this sound. Edgy as usual of course, but with an accessibility that's lacking in the follow-up. MC Ride is very inconsistent lyrically, but sounds better than on the other two albums I've heard. It does help that this is a mixtape and employs some good samples that might not have been cleared for a commercial release. 3/5.

2. Here's another one I've heard every track from, but never at once:

Pearl by Janis Joplin

3. My list:

71. Appetite For Destruction - Guns N’ Roses
79. A Rush Of Blood To The Head - Coldplay
97. Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine
99. Back In Black - AC/DC
120. Quadrophenia - The Who
123. Hail To The Thief - Radiohead
131. Beggars Banquet - The Rolling Stones [heard in 2016, rated 3.5/5]
134. Hot Fuss - The Killers
136. Selling England By The Pound - Genesis
137. American Idiot - Green Day

Pearl by Janis Joplin

I guess it's better than the Big Brother and The Holding Company album, but that's not saying much. I wonder how much longer she could have sang if she hadn't passed? Her voice was already sounding like it was giving out sometimes on this record.

Is Hail To The Thief the last Radiohead album for you? Listen to that

Hail To The Thief by Radiohead

It's well-made and pleasant listening, with some good songs. But even though I was hearing it all for the first time, I almost felt like I already knew it. It doesn't break a lot of new ground musically for Radiohead (Did it in temporal context? Not sure.), and the vocals in particular feel samey. 3.5/5.

And no, this isn't the last one for me. Haven't heard The King Of Limbs, and I'd like to at some point. Also haven't heard Pablo Honey, and I have no intention of doing so.

2. Chief, check this one out. Just heard it recently for my 1994 project:

163. Trans-Europe Express - Kraftwerk [heard in 2017, rated 3.5/5]
