The Dock Of The Bay by Otis Redding

After the excitement of Hot Buttered Soul we are back to my normal response to soul. It's good but it just doesn't move me. Not like Chef did yesterday. I mean if listening to The Glory Of Love on Valentine's day did nothing to move me what chance do I have? Maybe I just don't have enough soul to get into soul. I preferred Otis Blue to this.
*note: none of this applies to the outstanding title track of course.

Baystate listen to Dirty Mind

As of now, the Boris album from 2003 is personally better than this album. However this album is still pretty excellent. Now for complaints, it would be the first half of part one and the second half of part four. Out of which was worse and I put worse in quotes since it isn't bad, it would be the latter due to the drones wasn't as transcendental as I wanted them to be. Plus the first half of song four was so much better. Like, that first half was so good, it kinda made me a bit disappointed when the album ended. While the first half of song one was while not bad, it got repetitive. Though as the track went on, those drones got real good. But songs two and three are real good.
So grade wise it will be a 90.

(2)Pash Miles Smiles.

Dirty Mind by Prince

What an album to listen to on Valentine's Day. I had avoided this for so long because of "Sister". But while that song is indeed gross, it's over very fast, and the rest of this is probably Prince's best work I've heard yet. Good songwriting, great vocals and instrumentals, snappy grooves, and a short and sweet runtime. 3.5/5. I could have used a lot of bad double entendres in this review, but I held back. And for that I say:

2. Luigii, dream pop and britpop sounds like an interesting combo. Listen to Lost Souls.

I loved this album. Really wonderful. The only thing I would argue is that the outro left me hanging for a bit. Otherwise I would have given this a 100. Like the dreamy sound mixed with the down to earth qualities make this record a personal favorite. Also will venture through this bands other work. Now I get why people want new stuff from them. Grade:95

Funky Kingston by Toots & The Maytals

I had to do some hunting. There's the 1973 original album, and then there's a 1975 record that shares only three of the tracks, which happens to be the only version on streaming. Once I found the original, it was great. Soulful, energetic reggae with a few classic tracks. 4/5.

~~~~~
2. Luigii, nothing on your list really interests me right now, so you can listen to what is almost certainly the worst album on it:
Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flav...imp Bizkit
Big contender for worst art, worst title, and worst outcome of payola.
Damn, this is probably the one record that will haunt me since I don't hate it. I kinda like it. Now there's the key word. Kinda. Because while I do like most of the sound of the album, especially songs like The One as well as Hold On, Fred is squarely to be blamed. Because though I don't mind where he gets serious or acts like a stoner. His rap rock vocals or when he decides to yell, I find lame or just laughable. Now musically, Most of the songs aren't that bad. The only song that I don't like is Getcha Groove On for two reasons. One musically, if there was more body I would have liked it. Especially with that bass line. That bass line is fine. But with the dinky beat, it leaves me hanging. Or more importantly Limp. Now the real problem in the end was the RIP to Roger Troutman. Now, I have no problem with a shout out especially towards Roger since I enjoy a good chunk of his work, but that made me have to get a relation to him and the song and kinda annoys me more.
Also this outro is no. Really? Laughing for a few good minutes which sounds like it is being sampled? Really?
Other than that I kinda like the record but not a personal fave. And when the album becomes a fave, that's when I become a frat boy. And that would be the hilarious shit if you knew me. I'm kinda laughing thinking about it chugging Mountain Dew.
Grade:60
That wasn't that bad Bay. I know you will disagree with me, but I can't fully hate it. But for my pick for you would be Ascension.
Ascension by John Coltrane
Shocked Pray Love
This is some holy, holy music. I have definitely sinned in not listening to this, considering that A Love Supreme is my #2 album. I'm really glad I finally got over my fear of free jazz in 2018. My first impression is I love Ascension, but that there's so much still to be revealed. I can see it becoming an all-time favorite in the future, but for now it starts at 4/5.
2. Luigii, if I had to pick one to listen to it would be this one:
The Hour Of Bewilderbeast by Badly Drawn Boy
~~~~~

3. RYM hip-hop chart, modified for Black History Month. Albums to discover or re-assess (not heard within the last two years, never scored precisely). Albums I've never heard are in italics.
