Tough pick for me, but if I were to choose which record between the two I'd put on right now, it'd be Alvvays.

Think now's a great time to big up baystateoftheart for organizing this. It's been a blast to follow, and - especially early on - catching up on the niche personal choices and listening to all the music I wouldn't have heard otherwise really brought home to me what I've always loved about BEA.

The final eight might not have been to everyone's taste, but I think we've got a really interesting final that defies pretty much any end of year list for 2017 I've seen.

My vote will forever and always be for Open Mike. It's such an effortless, perfect hip hop record that still manages to cover new ground while being endlessly listenable - all in a very tight 40 minute package. Thrilled it's made it to the final.

Thanks Puncture Repair! Would be happy to organize one for 2018 albums next year if people are interested.

I feel #blessed that my two favorite albums of the tournament are meeting in the finals. It looks like my nominee is going down, but I can't complain with a second-place finish to an album I love.

Gave both a listen to refresh. Brick Body Kids Still Daydream gets a pretty easy vote from me. Antisocialites is good, but I just don't think it's on the same level. That being said, if it were their debut it'd get my vote.

Two pretty good album titles too.

Not sure I agree with the finals, but I think I appreciate how unique BEA's choices were. Wouldn't have ever expected these showing over Mount Eerie, King Krule, Arca, Perfume Genius or The National. It's kinda cool.

Thanks Baystateoftheart.

THANKS BAYSTATE!!!

Maybe you can pick just another random year to do soon since this was great! Like 1986 or sth.

Thanks Hayden and Tilly! I think having one tournament a year makes it more of a special occasion, and it's also a lot easier to get more people on board with listening to the most recent year in music. So that's what's preventing me from doing a random year. That being said, I would be down for listening to a random year with a few people outside of a tournament context after I'm done with at least one of the years I'm working on now.

I was going to ask these questions after voting closed, but I might as well now.

a) Did having a randomized bracket make the tournament more interesting? Should we keep it for the 2018 tournament or use a traditional bracket structure instead?

b) I'm thinking about starting the 2018 tournament a little earlier in the year. Maybe opening nominations on June 1 or July 1. Anyone have thoughts on this?

My humble wishes:
1. Start summarizing the 2018 tomorrow today - until 12/31/2018.
2. In three classic nominations: 1) Music videos; 2) Tracks; 3) Albums.
3. Refuse to vote without a face.
4. Use only personal rating lists.
5. Give the opportunity to declare no more than one release in the nomination.
6. Give the opportunity to change their applications and ratings.
7. Sum up the interim results at least every week.
8. Give the opportunity to vote against the non-liked releases.
9. Encourage first places at intermediate results.
10. Do not judge me strictly for my ignorance of language and arrogance.))
