This is simply one of the greatest albums of all time.
Fantastic compositions. Complex yet accessible a genuine musical accomplishment
Outstanding musicianship.
Superb songwriting.
Excellent variety.
Musical innovation.
Soaring vocals.
This album has it all. In spades.
#10 on my all time list, and the more I think about it, the more I think I need to move it up a few slots.

I'm going to ahead and say that everything you said is cool, but "musical innovation" is hyperbole.
Also, Kansas is ruined for me living in Kansas, as they are definitely one of the constant repeats on classic rock radio.

It all depends on what your threshold is for calling something innovative. As I was typing it, I thought it might be a little too strong, but I do hear things in that album I hadn't heard before. It honestly is packaging things previously done, just in a different way, or taking it to a new level, but it was something new, even if it was somewhat derivative.
So, yeah, overstated, but at least there is a kernel of truth at its core.
I definitely understand the overplay burnout. But for me, that's one of the more amazing aspects of Kansas. I'm easily burned out by repetition. But while I'll be perfectly happy if I never hear Sweet Home Alabama or Hotel California (both great songs) again, no matter how many times I hear Carry on Wayward Son, I never tire of it. That's a real rarity in my world.
