While we're at it, may as well talk spinoffs, which are really just sequels on TV.

Best:
Law and Order SVU (from Law and Order)
Fraisier (from Cheers)
Mork and Mindy (from Happy Days, although that was a stretch)
Star Trek: The Next Generation (from Star Trek) with honorable mention to Voyager and Enterprise
Benson (from Soap)

Worst:
The Ropers (from Three's Company)
After M*A*S*H (from M*A*S*H)
Tabitha (from Bewitched)
Archie Bunker's Place (from All in the Family)
The Tortellis (from Cheers)

Better Call Saul is one of the best ones. Like a lot of people, I prefer it to Breaking Bad.

Better Call Saul (can't stack it against Breaking Bad till it's had more seasons, but def in the same league)
The Simpsons (Tracy Ullman Show)
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Last Week Tonight (The Daily Show)
Space Ghost: Coast to Coast (do ironic repurposings of old cartoons count?)
Aqua Teen Hunger Force (Space Ghost: Coast to Coast; this appears to count)
Law & Order: SVU
Lou Grant (haven't seen this in eons, but seemed like a pretty good drama in its time; funny -- a drama spin-off of a sitcome)

I'm not as big a fan of 70s sitcoms as some -- obviously then and the early 80s were the golden age of the spin-off.

Haven't seen enough outright bad ones to make a list, but let me throw out an oddity: Beverly Hill Buntz (a sitcom spinoff of a drama)

There was also a serious MASH spinoff called Trapper John, M.D. starring Bonanza' Pernell Roberts.
