So The Flaming Lips and Springsteen will be released albums in the next few albums. I pray at least one of those 2 is good.

Have you tried Julia Jacklin? This should be your cup of tea...

Thank you so much for the recs mate!
Julia's album is just wow...I love her voice and her lyrics, kinda mellow melancholic lullabies with beautiful arrangements; My favorite song is probably "Don't Know How To Keep Loving You"
We put so many things between these walls
And every gift you buy me, I know what's inside
What do I do now?
There's nothing left to find

plain awesome
I enjoyed a lot also On Diamond, as u said a bit unusual but not too much, she's got a nice voice as well.
and Mrs. Sloan's album is another gem imo
hey feel free to send me some recs whenever u feel inspired Very Happy

ps: probably Julia is my ideal cup of tea

Life Metal by Sunn O)))

Dear god this sounds amazing. Steve Albini production skills are immaculate. I'm so jealous of the people able to snag it for RSD and got the early preview. I bet it's incredible on wax.

Sound's there for sure, but as an album they really needed to scrap a track (or at least 9-10 minutes off of Aurora and 12-13 off Novae). Even for drone, it gets a little dull. Productions definitely there though.

I've found April slightly slow, but these were all worth a shot:

The Only Thing by Thelma

Female avant-pop, the kind BEA digs.

Suzume by J.Lamotta

Think Badu, but in a soft jazz bar.

RỪNG by Lửa

Solid, short ambient release.

A Black Market Album by ShunGu

Decent hip-hop release with nice features, clocking 22-min

Laylet El Booree by Ifriqiyya Electrique

Didn't love this one, but I can't say it's not worth a spin. It's a unique mush of genres. Still holding out on Ifriqiyya Electrique to knock one out of the park.

Yeah, this is one of many albums I've listened to this year that are on the cusp of something I like, but they're lacking a key element. I haven't been impressed by much recently. I just want something that rocks. Cool

I discovered this song this week and I've had it on repeat. Sounds like he'll have an album out later this year, and I'll be all over it if it's this type of spacey country.

My 2019 chart now includes links to bandcamp and links to some of my reviews on freejazzblog where I can provide them (Small Worlds and Requiem for a New York Slice reviews forthcoming). Not a listening log, like my charts for previous years, but currently the 5 strongest contenders for my end-of-year top 10. I mention some recordings I've spent some time with and want to keep mindful of in the notes. On track to listen to ~150 recordings this year but I'm not gonna grow this past 10 entries (not including notes).

Black Hippy has really been dropping the ball lately...I have the same issues with CrasH Talk that I did with Redemption. TDE seems to be forcing Black Hippy to pump out half assed pop rap and it's really disappointing. With Jay Rock it was just awkward... Q can at least fit this style a bit better but I can't help but feel this album sounds more like a parody of Q's music than anything else. A three year wait for this?

I suppose next will be Ab-Souls awkward pop rap album, then maybe they can move on and become creative again?
