Yeah, I revisited Joshua Tree recently and it more than holds up. Though U2 can seem a bit bland and overblown lately, there is definitely something special in their earlier work -Joshua Tree in particular. You forget how good it is.

It is imo incredibly underrated in my book, even if I personally could choose a few other albums as my #1, I partially do it for that underrated status I think it has. I think corenfro's quote I added to my chart beautifully sums it up:

Also I think this is due for an update and is an ever going project like for most of you equally insane people out there (the search for "it" is never over), but I need more data and I'm far from done. A conclusion is what you come to when you stop thinking.

It's charts like this that make me remember that I don't know anything about music. Of the recent stuff on here that I recognize, there's some great choices (loving the LCD and Vampire Weekend picks), but there's just so much here that I've heard of but never listened to.

At #5? Maybe not certain... probably not certain of anything except that it totally belongs on my chart for how it's arguably one of the most emotionally powerful albums made and musically is up there too. Where it ranks is really arbitrary/subjective anyone, right? For me it was a song for song thing, but as the math worked out for me, it could be at #9 or #1 and it probably wouldn't make a difference to me (based on a song by song analysis, not as a whole, I suppose... maybe... haha).

I have listened to it several times. Its really good.
Its different-- more acoustic.
I love his "mellow gold and odelay", but this is starting to grow on me as well.
