Has consistently been one of my favorite charts to follow since joining the site years ago.

Is a rather strange chart and unlike anything I have ever seen before.

Mostly of highly contemporary albums which I have never heard, but what is much more striking and interesting is that amongst the pre-1990 albums there is absolutely nothing from the typical critic’s genres of 1960s psychedelia, 1970s punk, and 1980s post-punk and indie rock. On one level, I see that as something of a recommendation.

I agree that it's an awesome chart, but how is it chart of the day exactly once every year, always in the first six months? Are the selections truly random every time or is there a rotation similar to album of the day?

Very good point, because I do frequently update my chart. I'm pretty anal about the rankings and accuracy since I show this list off to my classmates who ask for it.
