Yep, I agree, there's some truth to that, particularly if we add "mainstream pop" to the statement. And especially formally and in the cadence of the chorus.
But what I was really referring to (halfway tongue in cheek) is Funeral having its share of doses of U2 (at their best), paricularly that opener ... but also in choosing it over any U2 song, alluding to its superiority.
