He like got famous for domestic violence as well as normalizing violence in todays society. He does this further than he did before on this lp.

Yeah, I'd hate to say it, but Slim here almost killed Hip-Hop with this album. Beforehand, rap music was all about samples and layering and rhythm, but he and his white-boy Fred Durst-calibur beats ruined it.

Fortunately, though, Madvillain and the like were able to keep the genre alive before Kanye gave it new birth last year with MBDTF.

Really, guys, this is too over-produced to be good rap.

This is not my cup of tea either. I seem to remember other albums of the day from Kanye West and Public Enemey, and both are better than this one IMO. (There's a full history of AOTD on Facebook and Twitter.)

Just to repeat here for people that don't know, the album with the most rank points in the last 24 hours is automatically selected as album of the day; and if the album with the most points has already been selected within a x day period, the next highest album is picked instead (and so on) to ensure a bit of variety.

Fantstic idea! Likely to get some good surprises that way

Whatever, guys, this album's phenomenal. By far Eminem's best, and some of the songs on this album (Kill You and Real Slim Shady, in particular) are some of my favorites of all time. Just my opinion, though.

The Slim Shady LP was far better and more skillful. Less crap rhymes. I think he just put all his best work on that album, and it's IMO a very good album. The Marshall Mathers LP is ok, nothing great or revolutionary though.

Illmatic is still the magnum opus or hip-hop. No competition. If you compete, you shall lose.

Indie hip-hop has taken off this year, so I'm keeping up with that Razz , should be interesting.

I agree and would listen to this over any Kanye West album.

Stan is a great song.. Haven't listened to the album though, so I can't comment on that. But the few songs that I heard besides Stan aren't really that good IMO (I mean what's with Kim? Fucked up)
