I like the women of electronic music like Johanna Beyer and some of the ladies I have on my overall chart. I think there's a good through line from early electronic artists up to somebody like Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith now.

Only a couple days old, this thread has already shown about as much action as last year's thread on the same topic, which is very cool.

Thanks to this sight, over the last year, I've been exposed to a great array of female musicians I probably wouldn't have otherwise discovered, across a wonderful variety of genres.

Most recently, I've seen on this site a good many very modern women. Putting a more historical bent on things, I'd like to acknowledge that despite music being male dominated, especially the further back you go, there have always been great women musicians, even a thousand years ago.

German Abbess Hildegard von Bingen was writing to best music of her time way back in the 1100s. Beautiful and trancendant, she was the standard bearer of musical greatness for a good chunk of the middle ages.
