In your opinion, what's the best song to open a Strokes album? I'm not including the FPP EP. Even though I dislike Angles and Comedown Machine is meh, their openers are fantastic.

Here's my ranking:

1. What Ever Happened?
2. Is This It
3. You Only Live Once
4. Tap Out
5. Machu Picchu

What Ever Happened? is probably the best Strokes song at all

I picked Machu Picchu since its the best song on its album... Is This It? and What Ever Happened? are obvious top choices.

Anybody who believes any Strokes song off of any album after the debut is better than any song on the debut is objectively wrong.

hmmm this is mostly true but it'd def have to be the UK version of the album, when it started kinda blows

Well yeah the UK version (i.e. the only version, where I'm from) is obviously definitive. I can't imagine swapping out 'NYC Cops' for 'When It Started'. Our album cover is also mad superior.

I remember buying it the day it came out, which for some reason I seem to recall was at midnight when my local record shop did a special opening for some reason or other. Anyway, loved it to bits and still have the limited edition carrier bag and badge that came with it. 2nd LP was OK, then I gave up caring. Outside of the first two albums I’m surprised people still give a toss.
