Alright guys, I guess I'll host our next list, the first to be officially part of the movie section. Pretty self explanatory. Make a list of your favorite frequent collaborators. The only rule is that they had to have made at least three films together. Don't get your PC panties in a bundle as this is meant to include both male and female actors. I think we should probably limit this to 50 but if yall feel like busting out 100, go for it. The link below seems to have a pretty expansive list for reference.

Pretty expansive? Pretty insane! Directors I've never heard of, mobs of supporting actors. 27 actors listed for Woody Allen alone! Apparently Kate Winslet has already signed on to Avatar 3.

Haha, yeah I didn't look at it for long, I just clicked the letter B and saw that it had most of Bergman's actors so I figured it was complete enough. There's probably a less prolific list out there but I didn't want anyone to be forgotten Laughing

Also, films that haven't been made yet shouldn't count, though I think that goes without saying. I can't think of any James Cameron-Kate Winslet films besides Titanic. Considering Cameron only directed a movie every five or ten years I'm pretty confident that's the only one. She must be signed up for Avatar 2 and 3.

This should be interesting. No idea how my list will look except von Sternberg-Dietrich will be high up there. If any of you don't have that pairing on your list, please reconsider.

Also, quick question. What if it's a director and two actors? Ex. Edgar Wright-Simon Pegg-Nick Frost, or Michael Curtiz-Errol Flynn-Olivia de Havilland. Should they be counted as one? Or should each actor be counted separately?

Sure, I'll participate. Should be able to whip up a top 25 or so no problem.

Yes, I automatically assumed that participants would actually have to have seen three of the collaborative films -- though not necessarily more if there are more than three.

She is. Just amused they made the list.

I feel it's more logical to go with them individually (otherwise, who's to stop anyone from going Scorsese-DeNiro-Pesci or Bergman-everyone). When ranking them against each other I'd probably base it on whichever actor I prefer in said director's films. If you'd rather do it more objectively based on prominence of role or some other factor that works too.

And yes, JVS and Dietrich all day.

Great list. Many of these will be on mine. I'm torn on your two actor teams though. In the case of Pegg and Frost, they did appear in every one of Wright's films. But out of the nine and twelve Curtiz films respectively that DeHavilland and Flynn were in, only seven of them were with each other. So due to that fact, even if you haven't seen any of their solo films with Curtiz, it would be cool if you could split them up, even by just 1 spot. Same for Pegg & Frost if you can possibly determine which actor you slightly prefer. I'm thinking of letting this be a top 100 anyway so you'll have room to spare; no need in going through and editing every number but you can do another 49 for a full 100 if you'd like. I'll allow allow Frost & Pegg though. That would be like splitting Abbott & Costello.

I was thinking about that while filling this out. You can't separate Wright-Pegg-Frost, so I think it should be okay to leave them unless everyone disagrees. As for the other trio, I can separate them. I don't really want to because they were so great together. But I know they did other work without the other co-star. Off the top of my head, The Sea Hawk is the only one I've seen (good movie btw). But I can see how it could get confusing if more participants combine actors. Heck I came up with at least 7 possible combinations for the Coens.

100? Gee, I don't know. When I was brainstorming and referencing the Wikipedia link, I only came up with 75ish and whittled it down to 50. I imposed the rule on myself that I needed to see at least 3 films to qualify.
