Cuz time works like 21st century also includes the 2000s... hell to the no.
I might be biased/stupid for making this claim without even listening to any of those 2019 albums... but I nearly guarantee in 5 years nobody will even give a shit they exist still.

I've been pretty disappointed by this year so far. In three months, the best thing I've heard is a shameless 2002 throwback by two artists who have both put out much better in the past. But, then again, I'm old and jaded and constantly hungover. The more you know, the less you know; that's what I know. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. I thought it was a little slow in this first quarter, but I wasn't disappointed, because that meant I could go all focused on some older threads without feeling like I'm missing too much. And I still missed some, like there's this George Lewis & Roscoe Mitchell thing that I'm really interested in, because I spent these first three months finding out about how George Lewis is amazing. But it's an import cd and I have to save money. But I still have spent a bunch of time with the 5 cd Michael Pisaro release and that's been an amazing time and there's been a bunch of other cool stuff. Still would have a long way to go to catch up with my favorite years tho.

2019 has been the best year for listening to music that was released after 2018, but so far it has been disappointing in its post-2019 offerings. If I were to rank it on a chronological list of years in the 21st century, I would unfortunately place it last among those with any album releases, but that could easily change in the next nine months. The cumulative volume of releases is certainly increasing with time, even if the fractional change to that volume is decreasing with every subsequent release. All in all, I would suggest not jumping to conclusions about its relative quality before putting the year in a historical perspective of a post-Napoleonic world order in which short people can be more easily confined to islands if we find it necessary to do so.

If you think about this question in a different way, 2019 is the best year to listen to recorded music in human history, because there is the most of it and the easiest access. _________________ Add me on RYM
