Best Ever Horror Films, version 2.0 [POLL]

Alright, here we are. 101 days from Halloween. That gives us 100 days to come up with a list. Remember, we wouldn't be re-doing this if the last one didn't suck. So let's get some good lists in and see if we can forget the shame of version 1.

The rules:

There are no rules. I mean, try to list feature length movies. I'm sure there's someone out there with a dozen shorts they want to include. But if you wanna include TV movies or miniseries this go round I'm honestly all for it. Try not to define horror too loosely, but use your own judgment, and try to watch some stuff in these 100 days if you can.

Here's my list though. Subject to change, though it likely won't much unless Midsommar blows me away. It takes a lot for a first time watch to become an all time favorite when there are so many classics.

Have leisurely watched 35 movies since April for this poll. Could've easily made a 100-film list, but plan to watch more, so the bottom 10 or so would probably get pushed off.

Somewhat optimistic TCM will run the pre-1970 horror movies I want to see the most, like The Devil Rides Out, in October.

Videodrome is one of my Top Twenty favorite films of all time. I know most of Cronenberg's early movies straddle horror and science fiction, though The Brood's essentially horror and Scanners is essentially SF. I've classified Videodrome in my mind as more SF than horror for such a long time that, even though I've always known that it stylistically has a horror flavor sometimes, I have a hard time thinking of Videodrome as a horror film.

Sell me on why Videodrome belongs on a horror list.

I've been thinking about that one all day. There's a subgenre of horror, not everyone keen on the genre, is aware of called "body horror." It relates to horrific transformations and mutations of the human body. David Cronenberg is the undisputed king of this subgenre and Videodrome is his greatest example.
