I'm trying to not follow this election if I can help it, as there's only so much fun I can expect from watching nineteen people I loathe and one I "kind of" like trip over one another for multiple hours.

Twenty? There haven't been debates with 20 since July.

Highlight so far for me is Andrew Yang beating Kamala Harris in her own state's polling.

Three hours was... too long.

For me the highlight/lowlight was when Joe Biden said social workers need to teach poor people how to parent, including skills such as making sure their record players are on at night Shocked

Yes, that really happened.

Wow - dude has aged since I last cared. Also he totally didn't answer the question.

It was a bizarre campaign from start to finish, in stark contrast to his well-run Senate campaign. Before he launched the campaign, he went on a soul-searching solo trip to find himself that was heavily documented online, and live-streamed himself at the dentist. Once he launched, he didn't build his profile through national media appearances, instead relying entirely on meeting a lot of voters in person on a grueling town hall tour. Pete Buttigieg soon vacuumed up many of his voters and donors. After that, Beto ended up doing two campaign reboots, most recently after he suspended his campaign to respond to the El Paso shooting. In this final stage, he took positions such as full-throated support for gun confiscation and reparations, which severely damaged future statewide prospects in Texas while failing to revive his presidential aspirations.

Thanks... too bad. He had promise. Perhaps he'll resurface down the road (or will this be like a 'Dean-scream'?)

I'd say that if this is like a Dean scream, that'd be great for Beto. Howard Dean went on to become one of the most successful DNC chairs in history, the architect of the 50-state strategy. Regardless of whether he'll run for something later, I'm sure he's not done with public life and will keep speaking out for causes he supports.

100%. Neoliberalism is just drifting us further and further to a police state. Branko Marcetic has some good writings on this.
